Needs to beat his man off the dribble with a between the legs cross ala Harden. This would allow him to get a step on his man. Crossing in front of him the way he’s been doing won’t work when they’re all up in his breadbasket.

    I see what I see. Ive heard it all;

    1) it's the coaching
    2) his shot is not calibrating
    3) its the system

You can not build a system to around Reed. Ive said the same thing about Sengun. You only build a system around players like KD, players who can take you to a NBA Championship.

Let this be known, I am in now against REED. He seems like a good kid but personally, I just do not see him as a NBA Player. Overseas, yes, NBA, no way! But time will tell

As usual, I enjoy your write ups. I’m a Reed believer, and believe he’s a highly skilled player who’s learning on the fly. I also believe had we passed on Reed and drafted Castle, Reed would be thriving in San Antonio. Much more so than he is here. I’m of the opinion we’re not winning a championship this year, not making a deep playoff run, and may as well invest in Reed’s development by forcing 30 minutes a game. It can’t be worse than what’s happening now.

    You always have been...

I'll keep this as simple as possible, because I know people like you struggle.

Reed missing shots is on Reed.

The team having no offensive system at all is on Ime.

Reed had a dumb coach in college that got run out of town for how he handled things and he's got a dumb coach in the NBA that needs to be run out of town.

Do your best to comprehend that, but I know you face an uphill battle due to your shortcomings.

Not sure about bust. But he’s certainly not the “generational” shooter we thought we were getting.

With the product on the floor tonight that’s your takeaway?

bro we have senguin and durant missing long 2s, giving up wide open layups, 3s and turning it over every play

as much as he is sucking he’s not even the worst which speaks volumes to how bad we are rn

Reed has been broken for 1 month now. He’s jus not the leader or take charge guy we need and player development + coaching obviously has done their worst

42/38/78. It's not a one game, one week, or one month issue. That's his season.
It was a lot easier to look past all the mistakes at 48/44/80 6 weeks ago.

He's clearly a game-changer and you have to live w/ the negatives (w/in reason) for those types of players. But man at this moment the struggle is reallllllll.

Oh he has been reaallllll bad

the rockets strategy of yanking him every little mistake broke him. Dude is not mentally strong like I thought he was either. Gets rattled to easily

    70% on Reed
    30% on the team

they did him no favors and it’s not a coincidence every lottery pick has regressed

The other thing that bothers me w/ Reed is the, "he's got high basketball iq" takes which are overwhelmingly driven by the singular fact that he's white.

No. He fouls jump-shooters as often as Tari. He fouls shooters w/ an expiring shot or game clock as often as Bari and Okogie. And he has gambles for steals as often as Sengun. Nothing about any of that speaks to high BBIQ.

He's just a really athletic, great shooting, white guy. High IQ types are masters of fundamentals - whether successfully deployed or otherwise. Forget defense, you see how often Reed picks up his dribble? You see how often he gets stuck, passes to KD, and KD fires it right back at him b/c Reed needed an active dribble? You see how often he dribbles the shot clock out w/out a shot getting to the rim?

Anyways, just venting. Reed is a non-tatted white guy. Reed has not exhibited high basketball IQ. But some people think those 2 archtypes can not exist together. And no, he's not 'sneaky athletic' either :).

    missed too many open 3s

    gamble on defense too much

being out of position due to reaching cause the entire defense to break entirely

he doesn’t look like a NBA caliber player

he looks like someone that can drop 40 in China, but is totally overmatched in the NBA

At this point, you have to question, what is he really good at?

Kon Kneuppel is who we thought Reed was gonna be.

Why is Reed so bad? I think a lot of this has to do with our coaching staff. If you look at what Reed did the first 17 games, he does show he can be a good NBA shooter (when wide open). Now our coaching staff broke him somehow, maybe taught the wrong things in practice or dont even give any directions in practice.

Our dev staff needs to be fired and replaced. Havent seen any meaningful improvement and instead see a lot of regression this year.

    Yes exactly

    it was like Pavlovian conditioning.

Get hot and go on a run? Get benched

    no all NBA D? Yanked

Now he is trying to be PJ Tucker (a guy I loved watching tbh) and doesn’t trust himself to do anything on offense . Passes open 3s. Takes bad 2s. Doesn’t even try to beat his guy off the dribble

coming to this team is a death sentence for a young player

That hot stretch earlier in the season was even shorter than Jalen’ March Madness. And nobody can say Jalen is a great shooter. And definitely not generational.
