I have to say that after years of tanking and gathering assets I'm extremely disappointed in the direction of this team. We traded for a 37yr old superstar who should have been the missing piece but now he seems to be the the only piece. I guess we are building around Sengun but I question that as well. Don't get me wrong he is an above average player but I don’t think he's built to be the alpha on a championship team. So we'll go into nxt season with a 38yr KD and hope that Fred returning will some how give us everything that we're missing this yr. I don't want to completely crap on Stone because he had some tough decisions to make but it just seems like we're content with just being relevant and we're really not that far from returning to irrelevance.
If they’re punting on this season then use it as a developmental year for Reed and Amen. Maybe even Davidson. Let them play and play through their up and downs. We’re not doin nothing this year as currently constructed. There’s no buyout candidate that can turn this season around. Just let Reed play more and hope he keeps getting better. Tell Amen to shoot the 3 when open and live with the results
Really sad. Wasted yr. If they want to blame it on Fred’s 32yr old knee I think that’s weak. And stupid for not having a backup plan. I don’t buy into the vision of this team anymore. Our young guys aren’t even developing as well as they should.
There was only 1 move that would have realistically changed this season's ceiling. They were too afraid to trade Sengun for Giannis. I don't blame them. Adding Coby White or Ayo Dosunmu wasn't going to make this second round team into a WCF contender. They can add a middling PG in the buyout market and roll with this team. Its a second round exit ceiling and Jose Alvarado wasn't changing that. That's fine. Now if they want Giannis they can combine Amen and Jabari in the summer if they think they'd prefer to keep Alperen. Maybe Jabari/Reed/FVV and all of the picks gets it done. Amen/Sengun/Giannis wouldn't work but it would be a fun exercise in spacing.
They could have got a PG and not had to give up that much. Especially after getting their butts kicked last night.
This is still a Championship Roster Just have to play more consistently And There is the Buy Out Market Rocket River
it was never about today. We have more options in the off-season. Also, as has been mentioned many times, the buyout market was the main focus.
after handing DFS that contract and giving Capela 7 mil/yr, forget the trade deadline, I don’t trust Stone in the offseason either IB4 he trades for or signs yet another big in the offseason…say hello to Bobby Portis
We have everything we need, we just have to play with more fight and more effort <clap, clap> and we'll be hoisting the Larry O'Brien...
it WAS the main focus but we needed to shed salary for us to do that via trade. Given that we have not made any moves then we cannot sign anyone from the buyout market
The Rockets needed things to go their way to have a chance. They are down a starter and a solid rotation player through injury. I would not have been opposed to spending 2 of the 4 SRPs the Rockets have to try to improve. The backup plan was for Reed to be ready. DFS is also underperforming. Basically, the Rockets are down 1 starter and 3 other rotation players due to injury or underperformance, with a third of the season left, from a team that had low odds of winning the championship. I'm not happy with the state of the team. I'm fine with not spending resources on rentals. It would have taken a lot to fix this team. even then, still likely not good enough.
