Provide the IDs for free and I've got no issues with it.

Voting is a right and if the state wants to put a barrier between you and your rights then it needs to cover the costs of that barrier.

Driving a car, flying on a plane, and drinking alcohol are not rights laid out in the Constitution.

I'll even take it this far, if the state of Minnesota isn't going to follow federal laws they shouldn't be able to vote in national elections.

if that's the only hold up heck I have no issue with that. The only thing I want is to make sure the people getting drivers license are actual citizens. I think this is a fair middle ground proposal.

Bro, why tf would you want to block legal aliens from getting a drivers license? It's not a defacto US citizenship ID and was never intended to be one. It shows that you are a legal driver.

    I agree , pass the act .

Do not put ice at polling stations .

If the act says to put ice at polling places then I would oppose it vehemently

The Act is poorly worded can stop married women from voting.

Getting IDs hurts poor people who may not have access to a car.

I agree. ID’s for free and whatever is required to get them at no cost as well. No excuse to those who claim they can’t get them.

And they shouldn't be allowed to pay federal taxes.

I think we have the basis for an agreement, but I'd tweak it. Plenty of permanent residents need to drive. And, in any case drivers licenses are issued by states, and citizenship is federal. So, I suggest instead the federal government issues passport cards for free to citizens and then require that passport card to vote. It can also have an identifier that replaces our SSN with something that isn't freely available for purchase on the dark web. As a child of the 80s, I remember how USSR was villainized for requiring internal passports and how we would never do that here because America is free. But, I'm not so naive now, so bring on the internal passports. We are getting surveilled anyway, so let's be efficient about it.

Or if you want to stick to state licenses, you can mark them with a citizenship indicator the same way we do with licenses for people under 21. I don't like it as much because it opens people up to citizenship discrimination in contexts where citizenship really doesn't matter.

I think this is reasonable and this is more of what we need coming together to find something at least in the middle

Poor people. Disabled people. Elderly people. Young people.

Do I think voter ID laws disenfranchise a lot of people that were going to vote? No
Do I think a lack of voter ID laws leads to a lot of illegal votes? No

What is more important? Making sure everyone can vote, or making sure nobody votes that isn't legally allowed to? As somebody known to misplace or forget my wallet, I would love the option to verify my identity without my photo ID, but its required here, so thankfully I've not misplaced it on voting day.

Then you also agree that states must provide free ID's so that citizens can purchase handguns. Do you want violent, criminal, illegals, to be given free licenses too so that they can purchase guns?

I believe in the right to show up at a polling station to vote. I don't support the practice of voting by mail or by proxy because the potential for cheating is tremendous. The sanctity of elections is more important.

Why don't you believe members if the armed services stationed overseas should be able to vote? Why can't people that are disabled or I'll not vote?

Mail in ballots have been safe and secure.

I think they should vote on their bases prior to deployment. Something can be worked out. They must vote in-person. No more mail-in ballots. I think a strong majority of Americans want this. Democratic politicians don't want it because it makes it impossible to cheat and we both know that Democrats are serial liars and cheaters.
