Just to be clear, your brilliant idea is to have federal agents with checkpoints in every way out of the city of Minneapolis pulling over every possible immigrant? What about St. Paul? What about Bloomington? Minnetonka? You going to put a large dome over the city keeping everyone in? Much of the state outside of the TC is reliably republican. Obama in 2008 was ahead of his time. I think for good reason he was the most liked president elect of all time. Shoot, I liked him. These guys as you mentioned can only do so much when congress has other intentions. 2008 Obama vs Trump 2016 would have been likely running a primary against each other had the political landscape not shifted so drastically. Wish these two got to run against each other just for the entertainment value. Nobody could have taken Barack in a head to head.

What your graph shows is that the Trump/GOP tactic of bullshit culture wars was a tremendous success (although I see that more and more people are giving less of a **** about that outrage). But you left out the most important voting bloc: Independents. Contrary to media hype, Independent voters are huge portion of American voters.
