If you don't want to go all in, don't trade for KD

I am dead serious. This roster as currently constructed is not going to win championship. The guy is 37 years old and his best shot at winning championship is now. If you are just going to stand pat and be complacent with 1st round or 2nd round exit, why are you even trading for KD? I would rather keep Jalen and Dillon and the PHX pick and stay young since we aren't gonna play for championship anyway.

My guess is the rockets didn’t know FVV would tear his acl when they made the Durant trade. Did you know?

With FVV or not he should be aggressively looking for reinforcement right now

The point is the "title window" only existed with FVV. Once he got hurt, the window shut for this season. There was no way to know he would get injured. Getting some random crappy guard like coby white is not relevant to contending.

You are delusional if you think we can compete with FVV

I personally did not think the FVV/amen/jabari/kd/sengun team was a true title contender on the level of okc or denver. However, because of how hard basketball is now there's a great chance one of both of those teams will be injured, so the healthy version of the rockets could have won (very low chance, but a chance). Once FVV got hurt that chance went to 0.00%. I have zero interest in throwing away assets to go from 0.00% to 0.00%.

Giannis is right there for the taking and I believe Stone should pounce on it, RIGHT NOW!

That doesn't change our title odds for this season. The young guys aren't ready (amen and reed). Not to mention giannis is injured and never plays in the playoffs really.

Everything depends on what your goal is. I was against trading for kd because i did not think he made the rockets a contender, but at the price that was paid i was totally on board (and still am).

Sengun is not the guy. You get Giannis now and try to go for it in May and June.

You try again next year with KD and Giannis.

Then you look into acquiring assets for KD and Giannis for the rebuild.

We aren’t doing **** by holding on to Sengun.

Technically we should be better replacing an inefficient Green for a super efficient Durant but we aren't because it screws up a lot of other pieces.

You don't go all in on a 37 year old - he should be a complimentary piece and if he doesn't like it, trade him.

KD is 37 year old, Sengun is clearly not the guy, OKC and Spurs are looking formidable for years to come, DAL and PHX picks don't look too promising right now, the BKN pick is a question mark but if anything it is our best trade chip, our window is diminishing right before our eyes and I have no clue what Stone is thinking.

22 year old Alperen Sengun vs 30 year old injury prone Giannis that only bowls over defenders that will age badly.

No Thanks on that bad trade idea.

Guess what, 35-year-old Giannis will still be light year better than 27-year-old Sengun

I agree that u don’t trade for KD without believing you will contend with him on your roster. I don’t think we are contenders and I’m not gonna bet the farm on Fred’s 32yr old knee next yr that we will be contenders. We have made a mistake and we need to have the courage to course correct. Our young core doesn’t fit and needs a lot more development. We are not contending on KD’s timeline.

Only problem is that Stone has made a total of 0 relevant deadline trades in his 7 years as GM.

Some people don't think about the future. Giannis and Durant may not get you past OKC, with no shooters.

When KD is what 39? last year on his deal he may not perform anymore the way he is now.
Giannis might be 34?, injured or getting to where he can't drive the way he does, and basically has no shot. That's after maybe 1 visit to the Eastern Conference finals, IF we can get past Denver!
Than bam the rockets will have to trade these guys for draft compensation. Then they will have what Reed and Amen to build a team around, and it will be very mediocre for few years, you talking about Losing Sengun, Jabari and Tari in a trade for Giannis. Those 3 are the main pieces, if
kept everyone would be 1 year away from there prime and possibly ready to contend for serious playoff advancement.

You cant sit there and predict 5 young talented players before they even reach 25 and tell everyone they wont ever be this or that when there what 5 years away from even being in there prime? Comon now.

The rockets may be smart for holding on to there drafted Nucleus and waiting on Durant Salary and the 2027 draft picks to fill holes in the future. Shooting!!!!

Durant keeps you relevant now, and gives this young playoff nucleus exp for the future. Every year they can build exp for the future and when they get there they will be ready like okc is now.

What is Sengun worth if it is not Gianns?
