Rockets need to either trade KD or they need to trade for Giannis. This one foot in, one foot out thing is dumb.
Gross. Sengun and Bari have been paid. Amen and Tari are looking to get paid. You can absolutely judge these players after they've been in the league for 3 years - that's why they're extension eligible at that time. "28 years old"? That's 9 years in the league for most of these guys. I've yet to see a coach or a GM with a 9 year contract. So nobody is going to give Amen Thompson 9 years to figure it out - fans included.
There is no such thing as a normal rookie extension. Some guys get paid, others have to settle, lots go into restricted free agency, and a few just get cut. The teams are judging them and so are we.
Do you judge everyone who has a job? You are getting all worked up over players who are 5 years away from their peak.
If I hired a 19 year old and they didn't greatly improve after 3 years then, yeah, I would fire them. Of course I work with professionals and not fry cooks, so my standards are high.
Many of the players have improved. Especially in strength and body size. Also it isn't just about the player. The coach has to know how to use them.
Yet another guy we should be looking at to address our defencies- Ty Jerome. He's missed most of the season with a calf strain but is back and has looked really good in his 3 games back. He's was one of the league's best 3-point shooters last year and his turnover percentage is less than 12 for his career which is not bad. Not a good defender but would immediately upgrade our backcourt. DFS and one of our less desirable first-round picks for Ty Jerome. It would also open up some money for us to acquire another guy in the buyout market. Or, we could add Brooklyn into the deal and send them some more draft capital and Jeff Green then take back Day'Ron Sharpe. He'd be a better Steven Adams replacement than Clint Capela. If you're on this board, Rafael Stone, feel free to private message me and we can discuss this approach.
I preached all off season we should’ve targeted Jerome instead of pay FVV 25mil. I wanted him more as a 6th man and stabilizer for offense when needed
I wanted them to sign Jerome as a FA instead of DFS .... He went to Memphis for ~$8m. Stone gave DFS $12.7 to average 2.9ppg
Clearly the Rocket medical team failed on properly evaluating him. At least I'd like to think Stone made sure to clear that. He was suppose to help clear the gap left by Dillon defensively and at least provide some consistent three point making and so far it's been a total dud. The man was a solid role player last year so I can't fault the Rockets for believing he could have a substantial role in the team.
