He plays it way too safe. Every year at this point, he’s basically on spring break while everyone else is making moves. That’s why it’s time to move on from Stone.
Problem is he does whatever udoka tells him to do then udokar just rubs his little bald head and says gooddddd boiiiii
He kept Silas around way too long, and the team paid for it. Guys got comfortable playing losing basketball, bad habits set in, and there was zero accountability. What makes it worse is that there were plenty of solid coaching options available that year.
he still has 1 more day to get something done we’ll see if he stops texting his side piece and starts texting other GMs
at this point he can't because he'll get fleeced. Everyone can smell the desperation of the rockets a mile awya
Stop, this isnt healthy.. did we forget what he did at the deadline last year?? JADEN SPRINGER... then we cut him.
Literally we have an aging star, and what is he doing??? Lets see how the team is next season when we are healthy??? While everyone is going to get better lol
His mistakes are becoming evident. The tank did not pay off, He was put in an incredible position to not only tank several years and get lucky enough to get several top 4 picks, he made a great trade sending Harden to BKN, and he found a way to mess that situation up. You rarely are gifted an asset like Harden to trade away and then get 3 top picks of your own on top of that, its like being given tens of thousands to go shopping, and returning with dollar store quality items. Its been 6 years, none of our young guys are all stars either. Trading away DB was a massive mistake, you cant make that many mistakes and get to keep your job. If you mess up the Jalen Green pick, then you have to get the other stuff right.
Our owner is cheap as hell, and it shows. He can’t properly invest in the Rockets, but somehow wants to buy a WNBA team. GTFO
Armchair critics, hey lol "Everyone else" You don't make moves just to make moves. Unless we get Giannis, there is no point in doing trades. He is no doubt ringing around and looking, but people are only judging that on done deals. We are more likely to find help in the buy-out market than in a trade.
Rockets fans like Stone because he drafts like a fan. I have never seen him draft someone different from consensus. Jalen, Jabari, Amen, Cam are all correct for their draft slot or bargain for their draft slot. He made one inspired move in his tenure, the Sengun trade, and it turned out to be by far the best move in his career. Yet he never bothered to do it again. Did he try to trade up to take Jalen Williams when JDub was skyrocketing up the board? No. He stayed put and took Eason. Did he try to go up and grab Jalen Johnson when he was falling? No. He stayed and took Garuba and Christopher. Stone was the perfect followup to Morey because Morey just does what he thinks is the right move. It has resulted in the Battier for Gay trade that everyone hated. The Rafer for Lowry trade that everyone hated for a year. He made the Lowry for lottery pick move that got eyerolled until it turned into Harden. Morey make inspired moves for better or worse. And Rockets fans hate the fact that he doesn't do what the Fandom wants. While Stone is has always been the GM that most resonate with fans. Take consensus prospects, dont make trades that can backfire, sign players that dont rock the boat, and never try to make a move that will get you angry with fans. That's how a GM that presided over likely 2 winning season in 6 years is lauded here while his predecessor who has never dropped below .500 in over a decade of tenure is considered a crappy GM
He can trade for Giannis if he wants. Watch this. Decide if it would help. This is all from this season.
Morey was overrated af, but he was an above average GM Stone worked with Morey for over a decade and somehow still didn't learn why shooting, particualrly 3pt shooting is important for a team
