    Why?

They really do not want Paredes playing any left field.

Yeah - they are not being honest, and it is because they are trying to make a deal to move Paredes for a solid return -- an equal bat in the outfield, or a lesser but solid bat and young pitching.

Something is going to give - be it playing time or a trade or injury.

I know that Brown really doesn't want Altuve in the outfield - he made it clear to Espada around the break last year.

    LOOOOOOOOL right.

Nice move for Dana to save face when Framber signs elsewhere.

I love the idea of correa at 2b for our overall defense . Paredes was fine at 3b and i think he would not be great at 2b. However, im shy on paredes overall coming off his injury. ( defensively )

What about correa in the outfield ? not ideal maybe from an ego standpoint but would utilize his arm more than at 2b .

Pena , Correa , and Walker are really good defenders.

Paredes and Yordan are worth playing for their bats alone.

Agree trade is a best fit , but if correa would play LF would that help fix the problem ? Correa playing 2b would , but maybe its not as optimal

This would 100% be a Crane decision, methinks.

    I am here for it.

Correa can easily play RF with his arm. He might even be the best defensive RF the Astros have on their 40 man roster.

I really want Correa to stay at 3B given his arm.

It’s a sign that Framber did real damage to his reputation as a teammate when he threw at Cesar Salazar last season and openly criticized the Astros’ defense in multiple post-game interviews during his awful second half. If he had just kept his mouth shut and his cool on the mound, he would have landed a contract similar to what Max Fried and Dylan Cease received. Now, his market is much colder than he anticipated.

Didn't they say the same thing with Bregman last year? Just pretend to
I'm pretty sure they pretended to be interested in Bregman last year too. Framber's gone

The Astros are not going to jerk Carlos Correa around. He wanted to move to third base as part of the trade from the Twins, and that is where he will play. If the Astros feel like they want to minimize Alvarez’s time in left field, then they will find a suitable trade for Paredes or eat enough money to move Christian Walker for something that helps the big-league roster.

If the season started tomorrow, I’d expect Walker to start at first base, Altuve at second base, Alvarez at left field, and Isaac Paredes at designated hitter. Paredes can play first base or third base when it’s time to give Walker or Correa a day off.

It's a violation of the CBA for a team to say they are not interested in a particular free agent. To say we have no interest in a particular free agent is viewed as tampering with his market. They have to lie. The media knows this but wants to write stupid articles and put up posts on X to get clicks.

Paredes or Walker will be traded before the season unless one of them gets injured during ST. We have a logjam and we have gaps to fill.

They aren't lying - I'm sure they'd love to have Framber back if the price were right. It won't be, but that doesn't mean they aren't interested.

I think yall are putting way too much faith in the "projection models"

Yordan staying healthy just by himself could elevate this lineup into the upper tier

Smith was rolling strong for about half a season last year, now he projects to be a bench guy in a weak OF. It really shouldn't have surprised anyone that Cam struggled in a situation where he had already played WAY more baseball than he ever had in his life, and he was trying to make adjustments to the best pitchers the world has to offer

Diaz could easily take a step back towards the upper tier of offensive catchers

That's the great thing about baseball. In the other sports outside of the rookies and really young guys, it's fairly easy to project what players will do if healthy. In baseball, it's damn near impossible

I could easily see a world where the offense carries the team to the division title while the SP struggle for consistency

Can also see a situation where the offense is mid but Imai, Burrows and Javier all pitch like 2's and 3's and Hunter Fkn Brown is the Cy Young, Bluebaugh/Abreu/Hader make it to where we only need a lead after the 6th and the game is over and we have the 1 seed

Of course there is also a world where pitching outside of Hunter struggles, Hader isn't healthy and King was a one year wonder and the pen struggles, Yordan and Correa can't stay healthy, Cam don't make adjustments, and we pick 7th next year

It's literally all on the table

So we are likely in the tax already, without making any more moves?

I think it means there is still a high likelihood of a trade of Walker

It's fair to listen to Dana and understand that the opposite of what he says is the truth

    No doubt about this

I was listening to MLB radio a couple of days ago and they do their rounds of questions that all the broadcasters answer, there were three on at the time and the question was simply "would you want Framber on your team and in your clubhouse" and 2 of the 3 simply said no way. The other said it would depend on how badly I needed innings

I'm certainly not saying that all 30 teams feel this way, but without a doubt his reputation is costing him bigtime

    This

AND if Dana truly doesn't want Yordan in LF, and I believe him on that one, then he knows he has to move Walker or Paredes to make that happen on a daily basis

I have to believe that he is really trying to move Walker, knowing he can move Paredes if he can't find a Walker deal he wants. I believe this simply because he picked Paredes because of his belief that our park would be perfect for Paredes offensively, and he was right. Plus he is about a decade younger than Walker, and makes half the money.
