I just watched 3 minutes of Coby White “highlights” so you don’t have to. I’ll put it this way. If you think we have spacing issues now, please understand that Coby operates in the same spots on the floor as KD. He’s 90% drive game and 10% irrational “heat check” long 2’s. Defenders seem to bite on his behind the back dribble, but I wouldn’t say he’s got a good handle. I’m going out on a limb and saying he’s not a fit for this Rockets team.
All day, every day. They’re trying to trade Coby so they can pay Ayo. And I don’t think Ayo is on the market, unless he’s part of a deal for a superstar.
He’s a career 36.4% on 6.4 attempts per game. This year he is 35% on over 7 attempts per game. Not great, but being able to get to the hoop and assist is a good asset as well. He is averaging about 5 assists per game this year playing mostly SG. I’m not crazy about the guy, but if he is cheap and/or gets us off a bad contract or comes with a pick that would be fine.
Yeah, I was going to say, it's just factually not true to say he's mainly a drives and long 2s guy. He's in the top 25 players in the NBA for three point attempts per minute played. They comprise 53.2% of his overall shot attempts. Only 4.5% of his shot attempts are long two-pointers. He's one of the most 3P-heavy players in the league. His shot selection is reminiscent of a late 20s James Harden. (He's not as good as Harden, of course, he just shoots from similar places on the floor.) That is to say, majority of shots are three pointers, about a quarter come on drives, and the rest are sprinkled all over the in-between distances.
In Houston those would be called what they are, illegal. The Warriors had Bogut, and he stated after he left them that suddenly they started callinghis illegal screens. No thanks to Donkey, if he is traded he will be exposed for what he really is.
Fancy words for “it’s closing time and she’ll do”, but sure. I’m going to be pissed if we give up anything of value. His playing style isn’t indicative of “winning basketball” and frankly he reminds me of Moochie Norris….hair, game, the whole enchilada.
so if this trade goes down, Rockets will be solidly 5th best in the West behind OKC, Denver, San Antonio, and Minnesota
