You mean Stafford won. The Rams traded Goff for an older but still Elite QB that wanted out. Doesn’t happen much and before you say Burrow, there are major differences. Burrow has been hurt and missed over 8 games in 3 of his 6 seasons. Burrow makes significantly more than what Stafford did. Goff was coming off a Super Bowl appearance, so his value was higher. And Stafford was 32 when he was traded…not 29. Makes a difference in what you have to give up. Bengals are asking for 3 # 1s and a defensive player. No way I am trading those picks and say Lassiter or even Kalen Bullock.
Me either really. I'm definitely against a long term deal right now, and even exercising a 5th year option scares me. I know he'll never be a tough QB who won't hesitate to take some hits to scramble and run like some of the better quarterbacks. It's back peddle back peddle, and making a stupid throw too often that makes me cringe. But, that moping and sulking on the sidelines really got to me. It's not what I want to see in a leader.
I have questions about the "wiring" in general. I think some circuits were disrupted by those concussions. He was out THREE WEEKS on the last one, that is not a "mild" concussion.
Definitely wasen't a mild concussion at all. His head bounced off the ground hard. I will say I don't think he would have been back out there unless he was alright. The league takes concussion protocol very seriously. I just don't think he's a an intelligent person though. He always has a blank stare on his face. His decision making (which was supposed to be a strength has regressed badly. He also doesn't know when to run. He's had numerous opportunities and he doesn't take them for the most part
I think the concussion while scrambling in the Denver game DEFINITELY impacted CJ's decision making on running... like he almost refused after that.
Agreed, but his new wiring is all that matters now. I just cannot get the image of the pick-6 against the Pats out of my mind whenever I think of CJ. Right behind is how shaky he was with the ball against the Steelers. I was holding my breath every play.
He didn't really run before that. He's a pocket guy. I just don't think he can read defenses. Rookie year, nobody knows him but after that defenses adjusted and he couldn't. Regardless, you can't pay him and the Texans obviously haven't. My guess is they move on and they should. It sucks because we have an amazing defense and it's hard to win without a QB(Ravens are my first thought) but I'd have more faith in Trent Dilfer than Stroud. That's how bad I think CJ is. He doesn't even want to be here
You are entitled to your thoughts. Yes - Coleridge has been a pocket guy a la Tom. But earlier this year it def felt like he was more comfortable running if there was an opportunity. After the Denver game, I barely remember him rushing even if there was wide space in front. I could be wrong. I absolutely think Coleridge can read defenses and for awhile there he had way above average placement - even on his TD against the Pats, I believe he threw the ball where only Captain Kirk could beam it up. My hope is Coleridge stays in the lab. We exercise the option and if it's not vibing I think we can get a 1st & a 2nd (if not 2 FRPs) from another team (NYJ, CLE??, LAR, AZ, MN, etc.)
