Yeah, the moment I think he is out of the league, he magically whips up a performance and gets extended.
He's the only real PG the team has. He's struggling with his shot right now, but that shouldn't be a long term issue. He's just needing to push past the rookie wall... something that would have happened last year if the Rockets had a competent head coach. We knew at the beginning of the season that the team had too many wings and almost no guards... that's how it was set up.
Hes moving extremely slow, barely gets lift on his shots and won’t run down for fast breaks because he hobbles. Has ice on his knees every singlen TO akin to mutumbo a lot of CF will chalk it up as an excuse but I legitimately think he’s injured, or at the least has issues with his knees we didn’t know when we drafted him
Yeah, it's not a question of whether Reed should be traded or anything like that, would be selling low. And he should keep getting minutes, at least during the regular season. (Maybe spot minutes in the playoffs.) For better or worse though, this team still has ambitions, as dubious as they might seem right now. A backcourt addition, depending on who we get, might take us from near-zero odds of going deep in the playoffs to at least having a puncher's chance.
What we need is a CREATOR, whether it is guard, forward...something....or someone that can create off the bounce. This is the first time in his life he has played this many games, it is an adjustment for sure.....already 48 games played, right? That is a lot - and he may be having to learn to play through that fatigue. DD
Idk why I have to preface every post with it, but because the haters laser focus in and pretend we’re making excuses or legitimizing bad play. Reed has been bad . Full stop. He needs to grow a pair and fix it. that being said I keep forgetting that this is reedsfirst season of meaningful minutes. With the Jalen comparisons and skewering by the likes of CFers day in and out you’d think this was some seasoned veteran who we’ve seen the peak of.
I think right now people are knee-jerking to the last 8 games, where we did beat all the bad teams, but most of those were very close, and we went 2-2 against good teams with one of those being an ugly loss against the Spurs and one being a painful collapse against Philly. Overall, I don't think we can be too unhappy with the team's W-L record or even net rating, which are both right around what you want to see from a contender. There's just something fishy about this team though. We seem to play down to the competition too often (even though we do compensate for it with blowouts on other nights) and drop too many close games. And subjectively, the games are often just kind of ugly to watch? 4th slowest pace, dead last in three point attempt rate, below-average effective field goal percentage. We're winning the possession battle, but each offensive possession is just kind of brutal to watch unless you love watching guys fight for rebounds and put up a bunch of ugly contested layups. Except for KD going 1-on-1 of course, his middy is as elegant and efficient as ever.
