I really wonder what it'll cost to resign Grimes in the offseason .... I know he wants a big payday but as it stands now, there's only one team with cap space and it's not much (Brooklyn at ~$8.7m). He's either going to sign an Early Bird contract or a MLE contract .... unless someone creates space to actually sign him to a bigger deal. Either way, that's a deal in the range of $15m per, not the 25ish he's looking for.
Windhorst added that he doesn't anticipate the Thunder, Denver Nuggets or Los Angeles Lakers making a major transaction at the deadline. The San Antonio Spurs and Rockets, meanwhile, have not been linked with Antetokounmpo and are also expected to let the deadline pass without major activity. Link Waiting for Franchise Fred™ to return. There is no Rockets basketball without Franchise Fred™.
People saying "Rockets shoudl add CP3" should watch a few mintues of him playing this year. He cannot play at all anymore on either side of the ball, replacing him in the rotation with Jordan Goodwin was one of the reasons why the Clippers season turned around.
I'm not really sure what they can do to fix the issues at the deadline. No player is going to fix Ime. It feels like we are wasting an elite KD season at age 37.
I would put the probability near 0% that the Rockets do literally nothing. I would put the probability close to 100% that the Rockets do "something" but that it is primarily financial flexibility motivated, although they probably pitch it as otherwise. Fairly obvious if you look at the cap sheet. Would kinda be GM malpractice not to either get out of the tax or at least turn DFS or Capela into an expiring. And Capela is needed now and playing well, so... DFS. Otherwise Stone has to justify to Fertitta why he's spending >$20M in salary + tax for DFS to play 18 mpg for the 35 remaining games, while simultaneously inviting RFA offer sheets on Tari by going into the offseason over the tax line.
I personally think it’s hard to justify the $77 mil DFS, Adams, Fred, and Bari bring this season. $84 mil if u count Clint, who I agree has looked pretty decent lately.
Well Jabari is 22 years old, FVV has no trade rights, and advanced metrics say Adams is one of the most impactful basketball players in the world on a per minute basis. So that leaves DFS.
I'm in the sign-Dinwiddie camp. He's only 32 and played 27mpg for the Mavs last year. Smart player, low TO-to-AST ratio, not a terrible shooter. Get Amen back to playing off-ball where he's more comfortable. Seems like a good stop-gap measure if we don't trade for a PG.
You haters can hate all you want, but my sources are pretty consistent in terms of saying the Rockets are open for business for any move that improves the team, for the right price. Splash (contingent)
He was beyond terrible the past two years - he's not on an NBA roster for a reason - He's washed. Need to look elsewhere for guard help.
