My extremely boring (but more probable than anything else in this thread) prediction: Rockets trade DFS into a Hornets trade exception to duck the tax. No picks.

Rockets save $20M+ and lose a good player on a good contract who isn’t ready to contribute enough this year. More space to re-sign Tari and make trades or use the NTMLE again this summer.

This board will think it sucks.

That is nice actually, Tari's injuries are weird as well....long term.

But are they not under the 1st Apron without making any deals ....not an expert though.

    Do
Doubt it, especially since they’re on a win streak I think. I was just looking at the “top PGs” on shitty teams and hoping. Realistically, yah we aren’t getting anyone that good unless someone really values Tari or maybe Bari/Reed. Seriously doubt FVV would accept a trade, especially if he thinks he might have a shot at coming back for playoffs.

Doubt the Rockets get a PG...maybe CP3...I think Rockets are more likely to get a backup Center. Keeping an eye on Robert Williams or Brook Lopez.

Or giving false hope to Rockets management and coaching staff that he can return this season when we all see him still limping courtside?

Both would be good gets, according to price. Williams would require 12.8m going out. Brooks 8.7m. Player plus frp would be too much in my opinion. Maybe if it’s coupled with a shooting guard. Thybuille has been hurt, but is coming back. So maybe:
Steven Adams, DFS highly protected Rockets 31 FRP, for Williams, Thybuille.

Capela has been playing better. But his minutes have not increased, and we aren't doing too bad in terms of W-L. I doubt that Ime is pushing for a backup center.

If I were Udoka, I'd push for getting a perimeter POA defender. Right now, the only dependable backcourt defenders are Amen and Okogie, and Okogie is too limited on offense. Tari is good, but he is more suitable for guarding bigger forwards than speedy guards full-time. And I'm not sure if he is still on load management.

I’m still rooting for DFS to 6ers, Grimes/Drummond. No $ next year unless they resign one or both. Grimes wants to get paid but I think DFS’ contract is his ceiling. I’d be fine with that. Drummond? Only is resigned, I’d think, if CC is moved.

A trade involving Andre Drummond before the deadline appears likely, as the veteran center has fallen behind Adem Bona and small-ball center Dominick Barlow in the Sixers' rotation. Drummond is making $5 million on an expiring salary and presents the clearest path to moving below the tax.

Amid Steven Adams' season-ending injury, the Houston Rockets are a team league sources indicated have a level of interest in Drummond.

CP3 is the best option. We need someone who will ultimately average 15-20 minutes per game. Reed and Amen have both shown promising development as playmakers and CP3 would really help that process.

We're also missing that aggression and obsession with winning that Dillon had. That might not have suited clippers culture but it's perfect for us.

I think he can give us 15-20 good minutes and who knows, maybe has an extra gear in the playoffs. Imagine how badly he'd want to win a ring in his retirement season. Good fit with Udoka.

Love this option even though he's not my favorite personality.

haven’t had a point guard all season but still worried about our third string center.

Good idea. Apparently rockets are officially interested.

Basically a future salary dump and we get two good rentals in the process at ideal positions. Doubt we re-sign any of them but they're very useful.

Is Isaiah Collier attainable from the Jazz? Feeling he would be good fit for this team. He's backing up Keynote George over there.

Les never paid the tax either. There were several years when he had Morey make moves simply for the sake of dropping below the luxury tax mid-season. Rockets owners have never truly tried to win at all cost. And if Fertitta decides to just shed salary this deadline, he will certainly continue that tradition yet another year.

If sixers want to dump Drummond for salary considerations, I’m not sure DFS works plus it would take another player to match salaries. The best outcome for the Rockets would be Drummond and Grimes for Adams and a protected frp. I’m not sure if that is enough for Grimes, even though he is rental and it doesn’t provide any salary relief for the Sixers. I would do it in one second, but I doubt Morey bites on it.

They won't get a first for Grimes, I think anyone who acquires him needs cap space to re-sign him.

Grimes and Drummond is what I was referring to.

Drummond sucks. Can rebound but not a good defender and can’t do much else. He’s become a net negative player.

Rockets are obsessed with offensive rebounds and lack of shooting, so Drummond being our main deadline acquisition would make a ton of sense

very few players in the NBA can grab an offensive board as well as Drummond

He can’t hit free throws as well?

this is Ime and Stone’s wet dream

Both Adams and DFS have guaranteed contracts going forward so I don’t understand how the sixers are dumping salary in this scenario. If all they want to do is dump salary they will need to couple Drummond with a pick to unload him to a team with cap room to absorb his 5M for salary dump this year or for an expiring contract to free it up for next year. If expirings are ok then they might take back Tate and Green, which would be fine as far as I’m concerned. They have to expand the trade to include Grimes to get a pick from us, which I’m fine with as well.
