I just looked at that contract. Dang, that doesn’t look good. Not the worst. But, ouch.

It was dumb then and dumb now. But my guess is this is ALL Ime and once you let a coach dictate his roster and not catering to our strengths: fast break and fast paced given all our youth. Watching us play so slow is just mind numbing.

Stone keeps risking on older injured players trying to pull a fast one.

Adams has been good but now is out again....old players that are injured keep getting injured.

What is ouch about 2 years guaranteed in which Stone isn't risking any young talent?

Basically, Stone is trying to give the young players talent to work with. If they don't work out, roster resets in 2-3 years. Stone has kept the cream of the young players they have drafted. I don't see why some people are so against trying to win games now and games later.

Its an expiring by next year how d hell is that an ouch? 12M is chump change if he was healthy or played like in 2024.

Tbh I am not even sure why he has been this bad that ankle surgery wasnt even due to injury, it was supposed to be a minor procedure and clean up any problems left by previous injuries instead seems like it made him lose all his quickness and shooting touch which is just mind boggling.

I didn’t know it’s an expiring contract. That does make a difference.

I thought it was a 4 year deal with a player option the last year.

The last 2 years are nonguaranteed, even though he has a player option for the last year. Player option does not turn non-guaranteed money into guaranteed.

DFS progress certainly has been slow. After 16 games not much spark there yet. He was quite productive in multiple scenarios in the past. I guess the question is how much time are the Rockets willing to spend trying to get him back up to speed. I imagine it will happen at some point.

My patience is pretty much gone.

It’s a moveable contract. Offer a couple SRP’s and see who bites.

Clutchfans. The only place where a player young in 4th year, can get a pass for being too young and still learning. He’s only 22.

    And

old off a injury. Give him time lol.

    I love it.

This is accusatory without any facts. Coaches usually work hand in hand with management to identify and acquire players. A GM and his team would be stupid to not consult coaching. It’s always been a collaborative effort

He didn’t have a pre season and any summer practices and was out since June. so he may just be very very rusty and this past month has been his training camp it seems. Hopefully he gets right in couple weeks and not a sign of decline

Dude, anyone who isn't irrational (like you; and, I mean, ir-ra-tion-al) over Sengun as a talented player--anyone who defends him in the slightest--is an "SOF".

DFS is a role player and it isn't out of the question to believe that money could have been spent elsewhere last offseason.

Who do you cheer for on this team, anyway?

coming into the season I had a vision of a healthy DFS, a healthy Tari, and Amen in the playoffs wrecking havoc and I still think if DFS can return to pre-injury form that will be very effective. As another poster mentioned, we have to hope that he’s still working off the rust and not a post-injury declining player. i had forgotten that it was basically just a 2-yr guaranteed contract, so thanks for reminding us. I don’t think anyone should be freaking out over DFS contract-wise.

The rockets see him everyday. If they think he’ll round into form by the end of Feb/early March then I’m fine just holding him past the deadline. But if they don’t have confidence in his recovery, I bet they could move him pretty easily. Either way, the DFS contract isn’t that big an issue.

I think he looks better on d. Problem is, other Rockets dont pass it to him aka Jabari. They all look for KD and then when he does touch it, it's a grenade.

THIS. in most sports if you don't have a preseason/preparation you are behind the 8ball for most of the year

So far, DFS on the court has absolutely sucked.

That said, I can't imagine he has sucked this bad because he is so old. I think the guy is taking it very slow to be at 100% by the playoffs without hurting his recovery, which, considering what is going to be expected of him in the playoffs, is a very wise move.
