To be fair, as much as I criticize Sengun, he was shooting good 3 point FG for like first 10 games with good shooting mechanics, but after those first 10 games his 3 has gone to ***** and hes lost confidence in that shot he doesnt even take 3s anymore.

His midrange on the other hand is just atrocious.

He starts the seasons very strong. I have no idea why his shooting goes down so much within the season. Not just the percentage but the form as well. I don’t take the first two months Sengun as his standard but don’t think that he regressed when he falls back from there. He is in an upward trajectory overall though. I think he would contribute much more if he played for a coach that could use his passing. Yeah another lame excuse, hoping the coach will play to player’s strengths.

Last night they did some Durant-Sengun PnR. I've been saying this for a long time. Use the PnR to get Sengun the ball at the FT line going downhill. That opens up a lot of things.

Sengun missed a lot of close range shots. But he made some dishing to shooters from the PnR.

Now I want to see Amen as the roller too.

His FT is a microcosm of his rapid decline this season. He went from hitting 80% to sub-Ben Wallace level overnight. Maybe it’s just my eye, but it looks like he recently changed his free-throw timing, going from a slower routine at the start of the season to a quicker, more rushed motion now.

You're projecting that though. You dont know how injured he is. Youre just assuming it, passing it off as fact and then subsequently using it as a reason for his poor play. Excusing it. If he's healthy enough to play, he should perform. If he cant perform then he shouldn't play. Its that simple. His ankle seems fine enough for multiple dunks and various plays but then bad when he's at the FT line? Like come on man, stop making excuses for him. He's playing like **** and hasnt improved on his shooting or his FT's.

Ime is at fault for a clanky offense system. It’s offensive offense to watch. However, he's not at fault for Sengun or KD or Reed or anyone else for missing wide open shots. Honestly, while the offense is ugly, for the most part players get either open shots or their money shots and they just keep missing them.

Maybe the defensive intensity wears on them, but more often than not the Rockets get good shots they had to work really hard for, then they miss too many of them at the end of the clock.

If you're gonna chuck up disgusting looking shots, you better accept the heat.

If you tell me your ankle is in a good condition after you play an efficient game, you better follow that up the next game.

If you're considered a star in your team, better deliver it night in and out. When you're inconsistent, people will complain about it.

    That's perfectly OK. No?

Regardless of the other factors (Ime's offense, spacing, double teams, role/fit), you can't look this bad.

yes I observed the rushed motion at the ft line and it certainly did not help.

He has a strange mental build. He is very strong mentally in general, not afraid to deal with his weaknesses or take responsibility in games where he is not playing well. But with his shooting he loses confidence in himself quickly and never got comfortable with it.

they don’t get easy buckets though, at least that’s what my eye test says. They have to work a lot even for the open shots. The problem is that doesn’t work under pressure with increased defensive intensity and they resort to bad isos or complete nothing when the games gets close in the 4th. They literally cannot solve anything as a team. And that’s a coaching issue. They would be a much more dominant team even with the poor shooting if they had the capacity to be a team in the 4th. The other teams improve within the game, rockets stall and collapse.

Whilst I don't blame Ime for the missed shots, there is a definite trend of everybody shooting like absolute trash regardless of their reputation before the Rockets. Anybody we've had any hand in developing massively underperforms in that area, for whatever reason. Thankfully KD can't be tainted so at least he'll hit his most of the time.

I’m sure you loved Kobe. How many times did he shoot 6-20.

We can have a long discussion but for starters check out any player ranking and you’ll see that he jumped at least 50 spots up. Also an all star under his belt with another possibly coming this year.

you can say you prefer other players but that is a different story.

Your basing his upward trajectory on random opinions on the internet?

When i asked what is showing you upward trajectory, i meant about his actual gameplay not his popularity.

What in his play and results on the court show you upward trajectory?

Hes been completely flat for 3 yrs. The eye test backs this up.

I understood your question and gave you a short cut answer. And if you think ringer etc. are random opinions that rank players according to popularity rather than actual contribution, I don’t see a need to go into details.

his defense for example has massively improved over the course of 3 years, actually sets him apart from a lot of offensively talented centers.

He can play a lot of roles actually.....the Rockets have too many Tweeners right now where it looks like the canvas is sort of a blur.

Guys like Adams was the Traditional big that gave the team Structure.

I honestly think he belongs at pf and needs a defensive center next to him. Gasol style.
