Why trade for him? Bad fit and looks washed. And with a team option for next year he could be a prime buyout candidate, right?
Feel like they can do better. Maybe they acquire him then if someone interesting shows up at the buyout deadline we can waive Lonzo or Holiday to pick them up.
He's a perfect fit and exactly what we do not need. His shooting has fallen off of a cliff and he's been described as the worst rotation player in the NBA because of it. I guess maybe he might do better in a different system, and Udoka could be his saving grace, but he would have to come dirt cheap and I really don't think this team needs any more bad shooters. I dunno. As bad as we need guard help, I'm tempted because of the other stuff he can do, but that's only out of desperation.
He shot 38%, 38%, 42% from 3 at pretty high volume in the 3 seasons before his injury. After coming back, he shot 34% for 30-some games. Then he went to Cleveland and his shooting went down the drain. Not sure what happened there. There is hope that the shooting this season was just a process coming back from a major injury. My concern about him is whether his physical abilities for doing other things, especially his defense, can go back to his pre-injury form. I haven't watched him very much.
Things change. Fans are allergic to buying low and selling high. Everyone just following current sentiment and current shooting percentages, with zero future predictive analysis or nuance. A pigeon could do it. 95% of people on here thought Joel Embiid was never going to play again 6 months ago.
Only if he gets bought out. Ask yourself: is he a better fit or even player right now than Holiday? Holiday can shoot, so no. No more non-shooters unless they’re free. Then you can cut them, if need be.
Haha I get it, yall don’t share my perspective of constantly being early, ratiod, and then correct 6 months later. I’m not typing things confidently after time proved I was wrong a lot.
Would love this pre-injury. Would not love this now. I don't think we're the team that should be taking washed up salary dumps off of a team's hands in trade. If we want to take a flyer on him if he gets waived, that's fine.
Spencer lost a step to score but he still good team defender and most importantly good ball handler that opponent would not waste effort full court pressure him when bringing up the ball.
