they don’t have the money to pay him, but he’s got another yr before he’s an RFA. He’s having his breakout yr so highly unlikely they move him. I liked him a lot during the draft process. Great defender, but was a bad shooter. His shooting has improved. Lots of our so-called resident draft experts said he was not a good prospect. No one knows sh#t
Strus ($15m) and Merrill ($8m) from the Cavs should be available now that they acquired Ellis and Schroeder. Both are really good volume shooters with excellent assist to turnover ratio. Any would be great depth for us.
The Cavaliers are all-in on contending in the East this year and Sam Merrill has been one of their 3 best players this season when he plays. He's not on the market. I'm sure they'd love to unload Strus on us. He's recovering from a major foot injury and has not yet played a game this season. Lonzo is probably available after the Keon Ellis and Dennis Schroeder additions. Lonzo is having a rough year shooting the ball. Knowing Ime, we'd probably see a lot of lineups with Amen, Alpi, Capela and Lonzo. Would be interesting to see how teams defend that lineup. I kid. We need to look for other trading partners besides the Cavaliers. Also, unfortunately, Keon Ellis is no longer in play for us. That's a shame because he have been a good fit here.
Name one time…just one time you got a trade rumor right. Just one time in the history of your 100% guesses.
The best players available currently in our price range are likely Bulls- Dosunmu, Coby White and Jalen Smith would all fit nicely and are on reasonable contracts. The Grizzlies are also currently spiralling down and have lost 6 in a row. They are in the 7th spot in the lottery currently. Edey is out indefinitely. Ja is a disaster. That's a team that might be willing to trade talent. Cam Spencer would fix a lot of our problems with shooting and dribbling. He's on a incredible value contract. That's a guy worth throwing some draft equity at.
There’s no chance they can play all these small guys Garland Mitchell Schroeder Ellis Tyson Ball Strus Merrill Proctor You can only play about 4 of them. Strus would be fine though, just need a solid bench guard. Wonder if we can swap him for Adams or DFS. I wonder how long he’s out.
I think the Cavs made the trade because so many of their guards have injury issues this year. Garland has missed half the season and is currently out. Merrill has missed half the season. Proctor is a 2nd-round pick who is only getting minutes because of all the injuries. Tyson is their starting SF. I think they need 5 playable guards this year because of all the injuries- Mitchell, Merrill, Garland, Ellis and Schroeder is a nice group. Strus is going to be re-evaluated after the All-Star break. I think it's more likely that DFS improves and becomes a decent rotation player than that Strus returns and becomes that. Our best trade targets are on the Bulls and maybe the Grizzlies. Dayron Sharpe from the Nets would also be a good Steven Adams replacement. I'd like Max Christie as well but I don't understand why the Mavs would shop him.
He would solve a lot of our offensive problems. He would create a lot of new defensive problems though. He'd be a nice backup PG. I think he'd be a good target. The Hornets are suddenly winning though so they may want to proceed with the status quo.
It's not really important why they did it, but since rosters are finite it means they're severely lacking depth elsewhere. Some good guards have to go and I don't think it's the new ones nor the starters. Bulls would be good too. Christie would be a good pickup.
The Rockets basically have to try one of three options...they can bully through the fit issue with talent (most nights, the Rockets just too talented), rearrange the roster, or hope one of Sengun and Amen improves their shot.
He and Amen together would shut down the league. When he was asked / forced to play as the lead in college he was more than a force. He has to be close to getting paid, coming off of rookie scale. He would be the answer to a lot of our issues. Coach would fall in love with him and Black would have a starting role here. He would quickly become what Smart was in Boston to coach, but with a better shooting from outside. yes please Eason would more than likely have to be in play to get Black in return. I am more than okay with that. Eason and Aaron ..,for.., Black Orlando gets better with an electric 6th man than brings so much energy in Tari. Aaron fills in as a solid backup point guard till better replacement is available. we are down a roster spot in the 2 for 1 trade scenario, but seem to balance out our future. FFV comes off the books as Black needs cap space to retain.
We really need another perimeter player with star potential. Would y’all trade Sengun for someone like Brandon Miller and picks?
My favorite that I have come up with: Atlanta in: Alpi DFS Houston in: Porzingus Nickeal Alexander-Walker Rights to 26 NOP 1st round pick Porzingus has an expiring contract so is a rental in all likelihood NAW and Amen would be a tremendous backcourt for a decade NOP very likely to be top 4 with a chance at top pick in the draft. Atlanta may balk, but Sengun would elevate them immediately in the East to playoff contenders.
Yes, but Charlotte would not. Contrary to popular belief they are building around Miller and Knuepple.
How many draft picks would we have to give up? Black is beloved in Orlando. Also, Tari is our best 3 pt shooter so the trade would be a wash on offense for this year, so I would be reluctant to include him.
