I guess with the trade deadline coming up and being off today I’ll throw out a couple of my general thoughts on this year and the trades that I would make.

    1. I do firmly believe this team has more of a chance to go deep in the playoffs than the team we fielded last year.
    2. obviously we did not correctly quantify exactly what Brooks brought to the team. I am sure that we thought his leadership would be replicated by the veterans on the roster, but it just hasn’t been the same. we miss the chippiness on the court, and even the shot making from time to time.
    3. I love Adams but I am trading that contract. I don’t see it as a massive negative although I do think we are underwater a little bit.
    4. I am trading FVV unless we are fairly certain he will be back and functional in a part-time role for the playoffs.
    5. we have to decide internally about Finney Smith and his recovery process. is he washed or is this simply taking a long time? And if it is just taking extra time, do we project that he will be a positive player as we roll into the playoffs or do we expect it to take an off-season to really get back to normal?
    6. we have to assess Eason and his situation. There are some elements of what is occurred that may end up allowing us to match a relatively favorable contract. that being said, he may also have some decent trade value, but it is hard to deal him without knowing about DFS or without bringing in an additional wing defender.
    7. We need to lower the minutes played by Durant and Amen IMO.
    8. I am not saying that we have to go all in, trading all future draft assets, but there may be a reasonable cause to try to make a fairly major trade. if it is to acquire a star level player, the younger the better.

    Trade #1
    Steven Adams/Jabari Smith/First round 2027 pick top 10 protected/2 future 2nd rounders

    For Brandon Miller/Collin Sexton

    Trade #2

    FVV/Adams/DFS/Jabari Smith/Sengun/

    For

    Adebayo
    Herro
    Andrew Wiggins
    Davion Mitchell

    Bam/Capela
    KD/Eason
    Wiggins/Okogie
    Herro/Reed
    Amen/Mitchell

This is something to watch for. They like him over there but seems like he might not be part of their long term picture. From some of the Sexton player interview sound bytes, seems like he knows it too.

He could be valuable as guard depth, even if ends up being an off-season pursuit.

I've always like Sexton as a buy-low guy. He's looked good playing against the Rockets. He can really shoot it. His assist to turnover ratio isn't great, but that may have more to do with him being stuck on crap teams.

The first trade has no chance of being excepted by the Hornets.

The second trade has merit, except I don’t see any incentive for FVV to accept a trade this year, so it would have to be an off-season trade.
I want Knuepple in any trade with Charlotte. It will take Sengun:

    To Charlotte:
    Sengun
    Reed

    To Houston:
    Knuepple
    Grant Williams
    Colin Sexton
    Moussa Diabatte
26 swap rights with Washington (owed to Charlotte)
    28 FRP unprotected.

    This year:
    Guards: Amen, Knuepple, Sexton, Okogie
    Forwards: Durant, Bari, Tari, Williams
    Centers: Capella, Diabatte, Bari

Amen, Knuepple will make a great backcourt for a decade
26 pick probably in top 4, 28 could be a pretty good pick as well

Yeah to be honest I don’t know how Brandon Miller is seen by the Hornets organization. Obviously he was a top draft pick, but I don’t know if I see the fit b/w him, Ball, Bridges and Kon. In theory, Jabari gives them a player profile it maybe helps a little bit more.

that being said, they might be as high on him today as the day he was drafted. I really like him a lot.

Is Anthony Black worth to look at? I only know him from 2k. Not sure how good in real world

The Hornets are about as likely to trade Kon as the Spurs are to trade Wemby.

    Forget about it.

Has he been in any rumors? Not sure why New Orleans would be looking to move him rather than considering him a part of the rebuild.

He’s still on the magic as a bench player to Suggs. Not sure if they would be willing to trade

Yep. Absolutely zero chance they would move him. He's untouchable.

Are the Magic looking to trade him?

If not, how are you motivating them to do so???

Must be a lakers fan, giving up our best young player to get Austin Reaves and help the Lakers? Wtf if Sengun leaves Giannis better be coming in as much as I hate it.

    HOU - ORL

ORL in: DFW + Adams + Tate + 2028 HOU FRP (lottery protected) converts to 2 SRPs if not conveyed in 2028

HOU: Jonathan Isaac + Tyus Jones + Goga Bitze

Isaac has kind of fallen off, but Ime would love his old lockdown ability

I would love Anthony Black, but I gotta believe ORL would be insane to trade Black

I was thinking about all the "Amen and Sengun don't fit together" commentary and people wanting to "sell high" on Sengun. I really don't know about all of that, there are a lot of factors involved, and I've said a number of times it'd have to be a star player in his 20s to even consider it given Sengun's favorable contract. But trying to consider if there was any situation where I'd go another direction, this is the best I could come up with:

I don't think I'd do it if I were Stone, to be clear. I think Sengun is a lot more talented than Okongwu, and I think being the team that trades for more players instead of consolidating into the better "best player in the deal" is usually a losing proposition if you're trying to contend.

However, if they really really want to build around Amen long-term while still being in the contending picture with KD short term, I think it would have to be something like this. Stretch 5 who can play defense + a roleplayer who can really shoot it. Bonus being that Okongwu is also on a team-friendly contract.
