    Former CNN anchor Don Lemon was arrested by federal authorities on Thursday night in connection with a protest at a Minnesota church service earlier this month.

    Lemon, 59, was taken into custody by federal agents in Los Angeles, where he was covering the Grammy Awards, his attorney, Abbe Lowell, said in a statement.

    Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a Friday post on X that Lemon was arrested alongside three others — Trahern Jeen Crews, Georgia Fort, and Jamael Lydell — "in connection with the coordinated attack on Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota."

    Details of the charges against the four were not immediately available. However, the Justice Department promised to pursue charges against Lemon after the independent journalist covered the protest at a church in St. Paul on Jan. 18.

    "Instead of investigating the federal agents who killed two peaceful Minnesota protesters, the Trump Justice Department is devoting its time, attention and resources to this arrest, and that is the real indictment of wrongdoing in this case," Lowell said. "This unprecedented attack on the First Amendment and transparent attempt to distract attention from the many crises facing this administration will not stand.

    "Don will fight these charges vigorously and thoroughly in court," Lowell added.

    Lemon’s representative and a representative for his husband did not immediately return requests for comment.

    Lemon's arrest is the latest development in the federal government’s immigration crackdown in Minneapolis, in which two U.S. citizens have been shot and killed.

    Three people who disrupted the same church service in St. Paul that Lemon covered were also arrested. Demonstrators gathered at the service because its pastor allegedly works for Immigration and Customs Enforcement

    Since they couldn't get a judge to support an indictment, does that mean they managed to persuade a grand jury to indict?

    I don’t like it. Feels politically motivated.

    I actually didn’t mind Lemon. I thought he race baited too much.

    What I did like, is that hr would talk to average citizens and no matter the outcome would post it. Even if it went against his agenda, he would post the content. That transparency for me was a breath of fresh air.

    Hopefully nothing severe comes from it.

    Already has. It’s called intimidation. It is expensive to defend yourself from the government if they go after you. This is as much a message to Lemon as to any journalists who report on the government. And not many have the money to hire lawyers that Don probably has. Trump knows he lose in court but that’s not the point. He wants to inflict as much damage as he can to anyone in his way. This will hurt don in the pocket book for sure. Trump used to sue everyone back in the day so this is nothing new

    It is certainly a dangerous boundary this administration is playing on.

    Similar to some of the things Biden's administration started doing with hate rhetoric on social media.

    Both sides, trying to win the political war. It is not of American Values ultimately.

    They did get a Grand Jury indictment from what I'm reading. Given the ridiculous rhetoric coming from the administration, and given my understanding that the Grand Jury process only involves the case made by the gubment, it isn't that crazy.

    If my only input was Pam Bondi's version of the truth, I'd believe the non-MAGA 80% of the country belongs in jail.
