and that’s what i hate, these players just like udoka for what exactly? a nets stint? please. either way KD coming here is a steal, look at jalen now lol. brooks was a loss but too much scrutiny with him, hes way better than tari or bari though
The 2016 Spurs had 10 players over 30. 6 over 35. 3 players OLDER than current Durant Their pace ranked 4 spots HIGHER than this current Rockets. Ime Udoka was a coach on that team lol. Yes that was an excellent team winning a ridiculous 67 games. But its like Ime thinks that formula can apply today. Then, he had ancient Tim Duncan + Lamarcus Aldridge together with a young defensive Kawhi. Today its Adams, Sengun, Amen an "updated" version.. Keeping Sheppard the "Patty Mills" lol. Then he needs a Tony Parker & a Manu on this team to help operate the system. Durant himself is not that kind of player. Yes FVV naturally, but something more in the meantime
I'm not saying that Jabari had a good game. He certainly did not. Its that 3 of the other starters took almost all the shots. Without free throws: - Spurs top 3 starters took 38 shot - Rockets top 3 starters took 60 shots Sengun, Sheppard, Okogie & DFS were combined 11-37 FG. Jabari had 8 shots as a 5th option. 2 for 5 three's. Even if he hits every shot, he just cant make up for all of that himself
youre l ooking at the wrong things. I dont blame you its what typical fans do. Getting KD ruined the rebuild and ensured we would be middle of the pack not contenders and then we will have to rebuild again. You dont do what we did you rebuild organically. Your rebuild isnt complete until you get a young superstar. We wont win a chip anytime soon. Yes we need a point guard but what you want is a superstar who can play team ball not iso Durant at age 37. We were fleeced its just gonna take you guys a couple of years to realize it.
a typical fan? lmao, the worriers threw the kitchen sink at jalen and he was the reason they lost because he’s a mental midget, and yes A. BUST, the biggest bust of everyone, so yes give me the top 10 in scoring that makes every fkn shot, while his bum ass sits. jalen was never the future. the only loss was Villain but refs n players hate him so it’s fine.
I'll disagree with you here. Jabari's role is to spread the floor. We know for a fact now he is open or wide open over 80% of his shots. If he makes his shots, we gain far more than just the value of those points. Your top 3 scorers get less harassed and when they drive into the paint it's less crowded. I'd argue that what it does for the other 3 guys is even more valuable than the actual points Jabari puts on the board. In fact, if teams RESPECTED him enough to not leave him open 80% of the time, then even without taking a shot he's helping the top 3 scorers. When he's not making these shots, it's a double-loss. We miss those shots AND things got harder on everyone else. The indictment is in the fact that they're leaving him open 80% of the time. That's the damage. The fact that he has a bad game here or there doesn't matter, because teams have decided "we'll try our luck anyway". That means the game is harder on Sengun/Amen/Durant from the whistle. It takes weeks and months to repair/build a spacer reputation. A couple of games doesn't do it. Spacing is based on reputation, if the defender knows you have a history of deadly catch and shoot, they will stick to you even if you've been cold for a couple of weeks. If you have a reputation as a below average shooter, teams will leave you open even if you were hot last week. Jabari is now 4 years into below average shooting and his 3PA has barely changed in that span. The reputation he was drafted with - shooter - is gone.
I'm starting to wonder what value Jabari has. He was supposed to be a star, instead he's a 3 and D wing who doesn't consistently 3 or D. Maybe somebody will be tempted by the theory of Jabari? I was hopeful for him when we drafted him, but I'll admit I was team Chet (and of course that wasn't an option). It's honestly painful how all those drafts went. Imagine if we had gotten truly lucky once. Cade instead of Jalen. Wenbanyama instead of Amen. Chet instead of Jabari. Cooper Flagg instead of the #10 pick that went out in a trade. Also would have loved if they drafted Castle over Reed. At least Ime would play him big minutes. Just one of Cade, Wenbanyama and Flagg and I would be so much more optimistic about this team's future. But honestly, it's hard to be optimistic when I think both Wenbanyama and Dylan Harper have a higher ceiling than any of our young guys and we certainly don't have an SGA or an Ant. I think we'll be a top 4 team for years, but I'm not sure we can compete with the Thunder and Spurs or even the Wolves if they make another strong move somehow. But just imagine if our big three were Cade, Sengun and Amen or Wenbanyama, Sengun and Durant. Or even Sengun, Flagg and and Amen. Even Sengun, Durant, Chet and Amen. So many ways it could have gone had the ping pong balls bounced differently. Maybe we'll get lucky in 2027 when we get the Nets and Suns picks.
We got lucky. We could have given the 2021 pick to OKC outright, it was nearly a 50/50 chance. We got Sengun from OKC for two future 1st round picks that did not convey, essentially for free. We didn't get Wemby, although there was only a 14% chance of that, but we got Amen who was the second best player out of that class. Detroit got Cade with the #1 pick in 2021, but slid to #5 three years in a row after that. Our pick from Brooklyn went up to #3 in 2024, although admittedly in a weak draft. Phoenix being terrible in 2025 was not expected. Not only did that give us a lotto pick, but let us swoop in to trade for KD by giving Phoenix their own pick back. I'm sure Detroit would love to have Wemby over Ausar, or Chet over Ivey too. But there's no point in wishing our draft picks were higher. They were plenty high.
I'm pretty sure that even if the Bulls wanted Jabari, this is virtually impossible (maybe completely impossible) to make happen due to the combination of Jabari's poison pill contract and the Rockets being hard-capped at the first apron / the Bulls being over the cap. So it's a moot point.
Despite everyone's seemingly thinking the poison pill makes everything impossible, JSJ, Clint for Coby and Terry works. Really, on the trade machine for like 2 minutes. Figuring out draft capital to make it work, that could be difficult. Getting around the poison pill, not really, unless dealing with a small contract that we can do other salaries to match.
