Jabari to the bench is something we can agree on, but it would mean giving someone else a bigger payday come extension time
It's the answer to beat us at home by 20. The fact of the matter is... no one else on our team can do this. And great teams enable the people who can do it, to do it.
Have you read his posts? Nothing he says is rational. I don't know if he does it on purpose to get attention but he doesn't know basketball at all. Anyone who is always wrong about players needs a reality check . Calling out KD is so absurd I have to think it's attention seeking
Funny how they banned me when I have some of the most popular posts on here of all time (think a few were over 100 pages) yet this guy has free reign to be an OP???
It's not that KD is not the answer, it is running an offense based on KD ISO's is not the answer. That falls on Ime. The offense should flow through the two best distributors we have, Alpi and Reed. Reed should become the starting PG for the next decade plus and they should let Alpi be the hub in a Princeton style offense. Let Amen move back to his natural role and become the Tasmanian devil he was last year. KD should be the finisher of plays taking advantage of his shooting and rarely the initiator of plays. If they do it right then KD would be a perfect fit.
You got it part right. Reed has not demonstrated great distributor skills. I don’t know how anyone can watch the last 3 games and claim Reed should be running the offense in lieu of Amen. It’s just a false narrative because he’s short and dribbles pretty well. All the elite pg’s in the league in this era drive to the hoop on a regular and effective basis which provides the spacing for guys like Reed whose elite skill is shooting. Even Curry is elite at driving to the hoop. Maybe Reed will develop that after he has several years to grow into a NBA body. Alpi and Amen should be the primary initiators on offense. You don’t relegate one of the most elite athletes in NBA history to stand around in the corner and wait for a chance to cut.
Agreed on not running the whole offense through Durant ISO plays. However, I'd say that Amen, not Reed, should have the ball in his hands early in the shot clock before the defense gets set. High priority on him getting to the rim early and forcing defensive breakdowns to either create for others or take the shot himself. Reed bringing the ball up and initiating, especially off a miss but even on some opponent makes, is not really the ideal scenario for this team, at least not this season. He's just not there yet on court vision and decisionmaking and understanding how the game unfolds, and he lacks Amen's elite athleticism to make things happen before defenses are set. When Amen can't make something happen early, you just run the offense, ideally getting Sengun involved as a distributor and Reed getting some opportunities to create. No more of this "just feed KD and everyone else stands around" nonsense, save that for the last 10 seconds if nothing else works.
When we got Durant, I envisioned that he would take all of Green's and Brooks's shots and our efficiency would go up 3 notches. Well, he did take about the same amount of Jalen's shots. And whoever doesn't see that our offense is much more efficient than last year is blind. But I did not expect him to initiate the offense about half of the times. I thought FVV and Sengun would still start most of our half court offensive sets and Durant would be the assassin from the wing. Well Fred went down and the team shifted its crutch from Fred to KD. Now it's pretty much KD and Sengun your-turn-my-turn ISOfest.
Players go through bad spells. Reed has lost a lot of his luster the past month or so. That said, Reed's problems lately have been that he's not shooting well, and he's not a good defender. I expect Reed's shooting will bounce back, and the offense will start purring again with him on ball often. I don't think Reed should be running the offense in lieu of Amen. I hate that Clutchfans is Player X vs. Player Y even though I hypocritically get into these conversations. I am very much for a diversified offense. The Rockets don't have anyone who can be a heliocentric offense player. A heliocentric player like Harden would hurt more than help. I really hope Reed finds his mojo. He's been hurting the Rockets more than helping. That said, the non-Reed have not been great since early November. They are better than the Reed minutes lately, but that's not been a high bar. Really the only thing working has been the lineup of Amen, Tari, JSJ, Durant, and Sengun. This unit usually gets a lead, but then the Rockets struggle finding something else that works. The Amen, Okogie, JSJ, Durant, and Sengun is likely the 2nd best lineup, but it is more good enough to beat bad teams than truly great. DFS is looking better defensively. He looks close to give another person that can fit. I expect Reed lineups will begin working well soon. I think it is mostly that he needs to make his shots. Hoping that DFS gets healthy so he can help Reed when Amen is off the court.
Reed is going through the growing pains he should have been allowed to go through last season. He will be fine and eventually be the PG of this team for the next decade plus.
This is such a tiring topic and the attempts to reframe the "argument" or to clarify weak criticisms are as pure as a Kendrick Perkins' jump shot. Either way, major props to KD and Alpi for their individual and team play last night.
I sort of agree except with Amen. I think Amen is growing into the pg role. In fact the starting lineup of Amen/Tari/KD/Jabari/Sengun has been crazy good. https://www.nba.com/stats/lineups/a...610612745&dir=D&slug=advanced&sort=NET_RATING The healthy starting lineup has a net rating of 25, absolutely dominant. OTH the starting lineup with Reed has -9 net rating. Reed just doesnt work well with the starters, he is reduced to being a spot up shooter watching the big 3 and he just get hunted on defense.
Codman has never been right on trades. He guesses like everyone else on the sight. My intel tells me the Rockets are going after Monk.
I think Reed is developing chemistry with Durant and Amen. Reed shoots bad with Sengun on the court. For the most part, Reed was amazing in the November through mid-December time period. He's been playing more with starters lately than back then. He's been sucking now. I don't think it is because he's allergic to Sengun. Reed does have an issue in that he's not good at defense. I think Okogie with Amen have helped Net Rating with Reed even if spacing is poor. Double Bigs using zone worked well with Reed as well and may be the only times Reed didn't suck with Sengun on the floor. I expect at some point, Reed and Sengun will figure things outs. Reed has to make shots, though.
He definitely shouldn't be making threads. His posts are equally bad. He white knights losing players and his evaluation is awful. He's got a reputation for being always wrong which is sad in and of itself. I haven't seen anything wrong with your posts but I don't own the site. You seem cool.
Well I certainly won't argue Ime is a good coach. He's not. The problem is Amen can't shoot. If he's starting that means KD has to take the initiative. Amen doesn't really have a natural role. I really like the guy but we do need to space the floor and if teams have absolutely no respect for his jumper it's going tp get ugly down the stretch and I'm playoffs
