If only this man can shoot 3s or at least more than 8 ft he would be unstoppable. I expect to see a dribble pullup game by year 6 and post game by year 8.

That’s long after KD is gone. The issue is can we wait this long?

I think that time table is a bit pessimistic given how hard this guy works on his game. FT% is a good indicator of this. I think he’ll add a solid jumper between the free throw line and 3 pt line by next year. He probably will improve on corner 3 pointers next year as well. Even if all he does is a stop and pop in the free throw circle it would make him pretty unstoppable, but I expect more. This guy has the best work ethic I’ve seen since Larry Bird.

only reason I say that is because it takes a long time to learn how to play that way and then be comfortable executing it in scrimmages then be confident enough in real games. It’s not an overnight thỉng. 3 step process. He could achieve it earlier who knows. I think realistically we’re looking at least 5 years to start playing that way and honing it by year 6.

He's in the 63rd percentile, don't get too excited. That means he's around 195 ish in a league of 525 (using a google estimate including 2 way players. Hardly a top tier isolation talent let's be honest. The percentile number should be all you need "63%" is a little better than mid.

Reed and Amen really create a great situation for us as far as the point Guard spot going forward.

His lack of shooting killed us during 2nd half tonight. You can get away with a big man who can’t hit from outside, but every other position has to be able to shoot in today’s NBA. And Amen has to learn to finish with one hand - his insistence on using two hands undermines his ability to finish over or around defenders near the basket.

He’s so talented but his weaknesses are just so detrimental to his game. I think he’s a piece of a championship team but he’s definitely not a franchise player.

Spurs totally ignore him in a half court in the second half. I don't know why more teams aren't doing that.

When he gets the ball beyond the 3pt line, nobody is coming out to guard him. And he doesn't even try to dribble drive because the interior is so crowded. He just turns and looks for Durant to pass.

it’s not rocket science, literally all you have to do, nba is stupid. whatever these guys run in practice is incompetent without putting Amen in these shituations more, and they clearly don’t work on his weaknesses, even though I trust his FT’s just as much as KD which is a significant improvement , but as gifted as he is ..idc, this coaching is salvageable just replace them :3

The way nba teams successfully figure out teams like this Rockets team does not bode well for any sort of playoff success. Teams know exactly what to do to go after Reed, slow down the offense by packing the paint with Sengun since he won’t shoot, and just not guarding Amen at all.

It’ll only get more intense during a playoff series. Could be a good experience for growth but I hope you guys set very low expectations for this team the next 4 months.

From this point on the goal really has to be about preparing for next year unless you can trade for Giannis.

He averaged almost 20 points and 10 assists the three games prior to this. his expected assists number is 10.2 for the year and on an upward trajectory. This game was an anomaly not a trend.

You must be CRAZY?! Point guard skills don't matter, we're witnessing a superstar in the making, it doesn't matter that he lays more bricks than Westbrook and has less than a 10th of the vision or passing chops. Also doesn't matter that he has the shot chart of a 2nd string 90's center. He's the most athletic person of all time!!!

(Genuinely what his fans sound like.)

They are doing that. Amen has among the worst gravity stat in the team, they guard Capela more than him. And not to be a downer on Amen but this is also why no way is he worth a rookie max extension. Just being dominant on defense and being a lob threat isnt enough if you are a forward or guard. I like the ft% improvement however his mid range is still useless, unlike Sengun who now had an almost reliable flamingo shot.

Maybe the solution is we trade Jabari for a guard and then roll with Amen at PF where he can be in the dunker's spot full term, but then he would he undersized at that spot IMO.

But I think the best solution is for the Rockets to get an offensive coordinator cuz Ime doesnt know how to utilize the weapons he has other than iso Sengun or KD and have them do something.

what does that mean?? You think hes going to average 10 assists for the rest of this year? Or ever?

What happens when teams game plan against him like we just saw? Just wait and find out? As if we havent seen this archetype of player before
