The amount of people on here cheering so hard for Tesla to fail strictly on political basis is absurd.

Tesla's with FSD is game changingly amazing. To ignore or discredit it is stupid.

autopilot is a bad product. It works well enough for a driver to get too comfortable and lose focus. I only use it for insterstate/highway travel.

according to these same people, for $99 a month, you also get a companion car to follow you around.

i do disagree with him raising the price. Or at least offer buckets of prepaid miles, and more importantly, free FSD to emergency centers

AutoPIlot is the only useful feature that people want. Most people don't want FSD at the price Elon is charging for it.

"Most people" haven't tried FSD 14 yet.

I was a big FSD skeptic and laughed at the fanboys until v.12, which made me think they might actually have a shot at legit autonomy. It was a huge step forward that instantaneously erased all memory of previous versions. V.13 (which was only for cars with AI4 hardware and not older ones with HW3) added several other features (including some contextual awareness) and improved smoothness and handling.

V.14 (now at 14.2.2.3) is game over. Elon's idiotic stubbornness about advertising in the U.S. and his self-immolation that has irreparably damaged Tesla's brand are why "most people" don't know about what FSD has become.

Anyone who comments on FSD and hasn't driven v.14 is clueless. $99/month for what FSD does now is a bargain. I have to believe Elon's new incentive package means Tesla will reverse course and start getting the message out to the masses.

Yeah but the cardboard popup of Elon doing a nazi salute when you open the frunk doesn't come pre-installed... you have to glue it in yourself. Pass.

He needs to increase FSD uptake to get his trillion dollar pay package.

Not to worry, it's gonna be a long while before other OEMs offer anything close to FSD14 at scale.

But if they ever do, it will definitely be by subscription. Put that in the bank.

This post sounds a little fanboyish.

Not my problem if someone takes it that way. I suggest trying a Model Y with FSD 14 for a couple of days to see if that provides clarity. Not sure if Tesla has stopped offering two-day test drives.

Am I tripping or is $99 a month honestly not bad of a price...? Weren't they charging $8000 upfront for FSD?

The down side in my opinion is that you own nothing from a feature perspective. You are basically playing 1200 a year forever, that is if the price never goes up. And you know the price will climb year over year. Companies keep pushing up prices to find out what the market will bare.

    Zero.

I've yet to find a reason to give Musk a proper plug nickel of my money.

I tried FSD V14 in my dad's Juniper Model Y. It is very very impressive. However, I'd still hesitate to pay a $100/month subscription as is.

I don't mind driving around town. 20 or 30 minute drives go by quickly and I'm constantly monitoring the road around me. Where assisted driving has most value to me is the long multi-hour drives on the interstate. I just don't drive enough long distance to make $100/month FSD worth it and I don't think many people do.

A car takes me from point A to point B. A car with FSD still only takes me from point A to point B. There is just not enough value for me.

I would change my tune once FSD goes fully unsupervised or if insurance premiums decrease more than covers the cost of FSD subscription. This may be true in the future.

The point that I am trying to make is that FSD doesn't add anything to what I can already do myself. It makes driving easier and less stressful. That is not worth the $100/month to me over a standard ADAS that I can get from another manufacturer.

If I drive a ton of highway miles or bumper to bumper traffic then the calculus would be different.

If I can take a nap or reddit while commuting, that would be a game changer as well. FSD as is right now, would not substantially improve my life enough to justify the cost.

I drive a ford lightning and don't use any of the self driving features. From a computer standpoint I work in IT so I don't pay for productivity software. I do pay 24 bucks a month for streaming services which is basically software as a service. How companies want to sell services has definitely shifted.
