this is not the argument at all. He had every right to bring his gun. but having done so, was it wise for him to have inserted himself into a confrontation with LE while carrying? Yes. States have rights, and more importantly people have rights. I support deporting violent criminal that shouldn’t be here. I don’t support disappearing nonviolent immigrants who are undocumented into a system where their families don’t know where they are or whether they are safe. Analogizing the feeling of terror those immigrant families, particularly the children, would be feeling to the type of fear Anne Frank felt is fair as an exercise in empathy — even if it makes you uncomfortable. Plenty of Jews are incensed about this treatment precisely because of the historical experience of the Holocaust, so the claim that such a comparison is antisemitic is a load of BS.
