Marc Stein reports the Mavs have "high" thresholds for potential trade offers for Naji Markshall and Max Christie. I'm not sure why the Mavs would put Max Christie on the trade market but I would like to have him on the Rockets. He shoots 45.5% from 3 on almost 6 attempts per game. He's still just 22 years old. He's under contract for under $8 million this season and just over that next year. I think he's worth a couple of first-round picks. DFS, Jeff Green for Max Christie and Jaden Hardy. We'd include the Phoenix 2027 first and our own lottery-protected 2028 pick.
Why are they making Max Christie available? Makes no sense he’s still so young. But if true yes please sign us up he’d be a perfect fit. Nice defener, long wingspan, excellent shooter. Down to earth and hard worker. They should try to get him.
How about DFS/Adams/Smith/Green/2027 first for Adebayo/Powell Bam/Capela Alpi/Eason KD/Tate Reed/Powell Amen/Davidson
Kessler is starter material at least 2/3 teams. Not just good but elite rim protection. There's still room in the league for those Rudy Gobert, Clingan talls I think Kessler on Rockets would strongly temp Ime to start him full time double bigs lol. But he'd fit the current Adams role on Rockets better than Adams. Cuz he'd actually dare defend the paint. And at least pretend to be an outside shooting threat
I expect FVV to be back a month before the playoffs and it feels like the team is optimistic too. It sounds like we're not going to do anything. I can understand that. I believe at least one of Amen or Reed will be an acceptable floor general by the time the playoffs roll around. I think we should start both of them right now, they compliment each other perfectly. I wish we would at least snatch an asset like Keon Ellis though. He's a good 6'4 3&D player, low turnover guy, feels like Ime would be a good coach for him. Different than Okogie in that he has more guard skills. He's also quicker but not as strong. Can guard 1's and 2's. For the late first rounder it would cost, it's worth adding him to the bench and trying to extend his contract while his value is low. He's already a very good shooter (40% type) and defender. Whoever invests in this guy will be very happy with their investment within 1 year. This guy's value is going to double between now and next January. Good asset imo.
That's too much for Christie, and if he were worth that much as a 22 year old they wouldn't be trading him. Doubt they value him more than 1 FRP. Good player, would be a nice addition.
I’ve been a long time proponent of acquiring Keon Ellis He doesn’t make a lot as well but will become a free agent this Summer He is an Ime type of player but may take some minutes from Reed
Naji is 28 and even then they want a decent 1st Rounder for him. Are they brain farted to put a 22 year old on the market, they need good young players for their rebuild.....
That would be a great trade for the Rockets but less so for the Heat. They'd be trading away their two best players for our scraps.
If Keon Ellis is worth a late first-round pick then Max Christie is worth two. Ellis is shooting 36.4 from 3 this year. Christie is shooting 45.5% on higher volume. Max Christie has an EPM this season of +0.4. Keon is at -3.0. Max Christie is on a discount deal for another 1-1/2 seasons. Keon Ellis has about 35 games left on a discount. Max Christie is four years younger with more room for improvement. I'd actually be fine with either player on the Rockets. Keon Ellis has been a good role player in previous seasons. If we're going to upgrade, I'd prefer we make a bigger upgrade. That would be Max Christie.
Our first round pick in 2028 isn't likely to be a very good pick. Neither is the 2027 Phoenix first. I think Max Christie is worth two picks that are likely to be in the 20s. We could lottery protect the Phoenix pick if needed.
Where are you hearing this? Because the only thing I can google is FVV saying this in an interview, which suggest he's probably not coming back. Or if he does, he's not going to be nearly at 100%. “Yes, it is possible that I can return this season,” VanVleet told his co-host, Marquez Beeks. “Doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. And I also don’t give a f–k. I would change my mind a hundred times between now and then.
Just going by the number of weeks they estimated him to be out. Works out to 29 days before the playoffs iirc.
I think Christie is worth a little more but not double. Ellis is having an outlier statistical season in every category. He's a 40% shooter for his career though, exceptionally good. I'd be happy with either too at the price of one mid-late FRP - preferring Christie. I'm not willing to dish out two though, would rather stand pat. Only interested in bargain-hunting until I see what we look like in the playoffs.
Really?? I think he'd solidify our backup PG spot perfectly. Can play off ball next to Amen. I think he'll shoot better than last season only because his proportion of catch and shoot will increase while his pull up 3's will decrease. Much easier shots, players like him are designed to play off an iso star like Durant. I doubt he can beat out the starters for their spots, but I definitely take him over JD or Holiday if healthy. Are you worried Ime will just hand over the team to him?
