Darnold is much better than you think.

Truthfully, what's it really matter who the coach is, if the GM is gonna be weak in all the other roster management?

Like "We got Ben Johnson. Nice! Now":
    - Trade the Pro-Bowl tackle..
    - While still under-equipping the o-line
    - And the running backs.
    - After the #2 & #3 WR is lost to injury, trade for another #2 WR also recovering from an injury (But he's a "buy-low" candidate!). But who was last good 3 years ago..
    - No blocking tight ends to help mitigate protection
    - Never draft for need on glaring needs, stay loyal to only "best talent".
    - Trade away multiple picks to get the "best talent we like" against actual needs
    - Draft 2 WR's high, which does appear replacing losses. But it's still 2 rookies needing development with a weak line that works against any development
    - Zero experience O-coordinator to patch all that

Its basically asking a coach to win in spite of its front office. (If Demeco is part of the shaky construction of offense, yes that's his fault too)

But at least Demeco can identity his guys to make 1 side of the ball elite. Cutting the GM's job in half to just cover the other side. Which has been a bit shaky

Yet without the QB turning the ball over 4 times and being generally inaccurate the Texans would be in the SB. They will work on the OL this offseason. They valued WR's after being short on WR's 2 yrs in a row before this yrs playoffs.

LBJ couldn't coach for s!!t. He could barely sweep a floor.

I am definitely not excusing CJ for being pathetic, by his own doing. I posted that Bobby Slowik got another OC job, because he now got to blame crappy CJ for failing him lol

Still, it's fairly simple with CJ:
    - CJ with protection, he's very good sometimes elite
    - Shaky protection, CJ bad

I know you always defended Tunsil. While I believe Tunsil's many false starts did negatively affect the offense, I didn't think he was some sole team cancer for all the problems.

So I'm more agreeing that trading elite pass pro o-lineman for "culture" maybe was a bit too cavalier without any good replacements. That's knowing CJ requires all the protection he can get, if he's your guy. (I agree to trade Tunsil as salary move to extend players like Will, though)

If Sam Darnold can be fixed, CJ can be fixed. He needs better protection and better coaching.

I am still not sure Sam is "fixed" but the kid is going to the SB, he defied a ton of odds to get to where he is, the right coach and the right scheme was the elixir so maybe there is hope for CJ................but honestly, unless we change the philosophy of this organization the change won't happen on this watch

If you watched Darnold played a damn good game yesterday. Seattle may win this thing. Dunno if CJ is mentally tough enough to recover from STINK BOMBING his team out of the playoffs.

He wasn’t fixed, he was bad because he played for bad teams, same as baker mayfield.

Cj is on a good team and he still sucks.

baker was on a good browns team u remember them blowing the Steelers out in the playoffs with the browns. Stroud and baker are more similar than you think started out off good then. Browns defense was good. Then they traded 3 picks for Watson on a talented browns team at that time. Didn’t work out though…..

Has anyone ever played that poorly in a playoff game early in their career and then bounced back to become a strong playoff performer? no one comes to mind for me
