Yes. Other teams will do it for draft compensation. Sac is tanking whether they want to or not. They need and want desperately to unload contracts, Derozan and Sabonis especially. Adams is less expensive than Monk but does have 2 more years. If he was expiring it would be a slam dunk for many teams to take him. A team like Sac can afford to hold him a couple of years if they get a FRP in return. The only problem is Ime falls in love with mediocre vet players like Adams and FVV for their intangibles and Stone won’t buck him.

Giannis is damaged goods. Anyone who trades for him would foolish. He’s got the same injury that Halliburton and KD had before they tore their Achilles.

Agreed. Last night totally tanked his trade value. I could see GSW making a play for him and letting him sit the rest of the year. Jimmy Butler is an exact match salary wise. GSW is one team that could care less about Giannis’ lack of a 3 pt shot. Butler and 1 or 2 frp’s for Giannis.

    https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...best-offenses-sengun-thompson-sheppard-durant

Help at point guard doesn't appear to be incoming, according to Udoka, who told ESPN the organization hasn't discussed adding at the position as the trade deadline approaches.

Houston is hard capped, sitting at $1.25 million below the first apron.

"We've always been confident and talked about our depth and relying on all these guys with Aaron [Holiday] and Jae'Sean [Tate] and guys that aren't playing as much. We felt we had a team three-deep at every position with Clint [Capela] at the backup 5. So, [adding help at the trade deadline is] nothing we were looking at.

"We want to see what [Thompson and Sheppard] look like with a year of point guard play under their belt and getting Fred back eventually. For now, we want those guys to grow into that role."

Sounds like they are going to rely on the buy out market

this is the most informative trade deadline info I’ve read yet. And it tracks with logic and the other credible bits and pieces we’ve been hearing.

they appear content to let the yr play out. Clint might have been a contract to move before Adams’ injury but now he’s needed. They are willing to sink or swim with Amen and Reed at the point guard, supplementing with other guys down the roster if needed. Come what may they get valuable data on two of our most important core prospects. They don’t feel pressure to go all out and try to win this season.

I can live with that I guess because my first priority is do no harm, and also I don’t think there’s any move at the deadline that would make us contenders. And I’m okay with giving Amen and Reed development reps at the point guard position.

It’s always easier to make trades in the offseason. As I still believe the team needs additional changes to contend, I can see us just waiting till then while gaining better insight into our current players. Not sexy, but reasonable. I can live with that.

to be honest I am OK with riding it out with the roster as is. Even if FVV Can’t make it back, I imagine by then there would be a point guard that we could add that would help out a little bit.

Very much I want the reps going to Amen and Reed.

I’m less high on Udoka then I have previously been. I still appreciate everything that has been brought, but I definitely would like to see a little bit more offensive creativity specifically letting Reed have a way longer leash And a more creative Senhub high post offense.

Players that I would deem untouchable or at least as close to it as you can get
    Durant
    Shepp
    Amen

I nearly include Sengun but would deal him if we were getting an amazing return.

    Smith
    Eason

Still hold a lot of value to me and I think they still could end up really good players, but I would trade them in the right scenario.

DFS/FVV/Capela our guys that I would deal, but I am also hopeful will sharpen as the season continues and be viable in the playoffs.

Holiday/Tate/Green/Davidson I’ll even are pretty decent to have as fringe players in the rotation.

Adams…., I really like him and I assume that we probably just keep him around and he has two successful years for us in the future. I am not really drawing a lot of correlation between his two injuries. I think they’re kind of random and unfortunate.

I would be interested in coupling salaries of Adams/FVV/DFS and then using draft capital or the trade value from Eason or Smith for the right play player(s). But I’m just not sure that that is out there.

Durant has been amazing on the offensive end and average to slightly below average on the defensive end. I wish he were playing much less, but I can also see him continue to be effective as a player for a few years. I would like him to drive to the basket less, but he has a very impressive offensive player.

Reed/Amen backcourt is what I envision right now is truly the core of the future.

On Adams there is no correlation between injuries, but there might be between his age and size. When big men over thirty start having more frequent injuries it bears watching.

this is a legit concern. As a rule I just don’t like to bet on bigs in their 30’s coming off injuries. As athletes age they get more injury-prone. And big athletes have more pressure on their lower bodies because of their weight and size. It’s not good.

I don’t even like betting on 31 yr old Fred and 32 yr old DFS coming off their injuries. But Steveo, has to be more of a concern because of his size and recent history of serious lower body injuries.

Hoping all these guys make full recoveries, but Id feel more comfortable moving off some of these guys. Steveo should be easy to move this summer.

Oh, I feel ya. You know that most of the time you and I agree and I understand what you were saying. I just think that his play style should lend to a couple health years, but obviously that didn’t bear any fruit this year. Although I guess I’m hopeful, he’s back before the playoffs.

I guess I just don’t think that we need three centers. I would like to see Smith occupy any minutes that are technically “3rd center”.

So knowing that Adams and Capella are both selling for the next three years, it’s just kind of which one is better to keep.

Brain tells me Adams But if Capela Were to get in shape and be a vertical threat on both ends I could potentially change my mind. And obviously, Adams gives us greater flexibility in trade.

I don’t think he’s gonna be out the entire season because of a sprained ankle. indefinitely doesn’t mean he’s out for the season It just doesn’t have an exact timetable.

I read that article yesterday, and then the next article I came across talked about Alvarado as a potential acquisition.
I kinda feel like Alvarado would be an ideal pick up, gives you some stability at the PG spot this season and as a backup next year - on the cheap and is known for being a pest defensively, so a culture fit.
Only issue is that he may take some reps away from Reed but then again, he's played mostly as a 2 guard / shooter, giving the ball up to KD to facilitate (which annoys the piss outa me).

Like @Aruba77, I'm pretty content letting it play out without an addition and just going sink or swim with Reed .... just wish he was allowed to actually run some pick and roll actions, his gravity as a shooter opens up so much and seems like a much better option than Sengun or KD catching the ball outside the 3 point line and having to work to get to their spots in the midrange / at the rim.

What do you guys think that Alvarado will command on the open market in the off-season?

Since the pelicans will likely lose him, I would definitely be open to trading a few second rounders and their choice of filler players. I’d trade Holiday and Tate.

I think maybe taxpayer MLE money or something in that range ($6,102,000). He makes $4.5m this year with a player option for the same next year.

Sending out any two of Holiday, Tate or Uncle Jeff, you'd be left with an open roster spot that must be filled - you'd have only the prorated minimum to fill that 14th roster spot within 10 days - what's your plan here?

New Orleans, Orlando, Sac-town (duh) and BK have entered the chat.

Jose wants out and can be had.

Multiple Kings want out and can be had depending on how it works out.

Toronto is asking for too much and Memphis is tied up with the most overrated douchelord in Ja. But again, consider some much needed help.

Orlando has discussed sending TyTy with a vet...

And, do not sleep on Portland and Utah. Plenty of help to be had ...

As for Stevie, the Rox will take their time with his rehab. Clint can fill in, but I'm hearing a couple of cheaper Lob-getters for Amen and KD to recreate the Harden to Clint feel for easy buckets.

Where is PJ Tucker when you need him ? :)

I would love to get my guy Nic and Brook from LA, but as I have always thought, they will make the playoffs and surprise the masses. That is unless they send Harden to pair up with Ant...Jesus, that gives me the nightmarish chills.

Reed is not for sale unless the sale is incredible. The usual suspects are being shown like a tent showcase , but I have a terrible feeling Josh is going to get caught up. He should be starting every night and ending games...glue guy with tremendous value come playoff time.

Much love to you and yours, unless you support ICE, Ja Morant or have forgiven Jeremy Lin for costing us an entire playoff series because of his ego.

Thanks Cod. Sounds like if there is a deal, it will probably be on the margins. Obviously there are a lot of teams looking for Alvarado and I’m sure all those poorly mismatched vets in Sac-town are being made available as the organization finally gets serious about rebuilding. But the interesting mention was TyTy and a vet. Orlando has a ton of centers. You mention that we are still considering a lob threat. Are we talking Goga or Wendell Carter Jr.?
