I wonder if rockets would Trade Eason, DFS, Tate + Picks for him getting back Tre Jones and Dalen Terry(who was drafted after Eason, known for his Defense.)Terry expressed he wanted a bigger role on another team. He not getting any mins in Chicago because of Okoru and Heuter.

Monk for Reed, makes no sense. I agree, it will require Reed, I'm against this move.

Teams really do stupid things when they get what they want. The reason to go after Reed would be betting on what he could become. If the Kings are going to bet on what someone would become, their 26 pick has more of that. If they want to win now, Reed is not the guy to go after with that pick.

Sacramento is 4th now, but the prospect of teams tanking under the Kings to push the pick likely to 7th ot 8th would likely make the Rockets say no.

27 Suns pick plus Adams and Tari for Andrew Nembhard works on the Espn trade machine. He is better than Monk.

It’s not Monk that is the key to the proposed trade, it is the first round pick. Monk would actually bring more to the table than Reed this year, but Reed’s potential ceiling is miles higher than Monk’s. It doesn’t matter, Sac wouldn’t do it with the apparent best draft in years coming up.

He is the better all-around player. Monk is a much better 3 pt shooter. Monk is a rental, but probably signable next year. Nembhard has 2 more years after this one at 18m. After his performance in the finals last year, I don’t think the Pacers would trade him.

I'm sure we've been talking with Sacramento and their surfeit of guards.
    Sac: "How about Reed Shepherd?"
Stone: "Uh, does that include your #1 pick this year?"
    Sac: "Oh, no. No no."
    Stone: "Well, then......

Pretty sure that is pretty accurate. I think we end up with by trading Tari and filler and the 27 Phoenix pick. Monk is on an expiring contract so he is expendable to Sacramento. He is a really good fit for the Rockets and I think they would try and extend him.

Pretty much, add that GM Perry would say that their efforts to tank had to bear fruits and not be in vain......

I am only trading Reed for Monk, Keon Ellis, Cardwell and their unprotected pick next year.

Reed has been showing star flashes, we would need him post KD era.

TBH I would rather bet on Tari being healthy than see all these trades. A healthy Tari is better than majority of these players and if he gets injured again we can sign him for cheap.

We need better all round players. I agree the chances of acquiring him are slimer than acquiring Monk. Monk and Reed are needed together. Reed can develop into a shoot first backup PG.

That post was made before I knew Adams would be out an extended period of time.

Now? No .... and other thing is, I hate the idea of giving up both DFS and Tari leaving the forward spots thin.

The more I think about it, the less I think they make any moves at this deadline.

I agree that we should only trade for one of them, not both (Tari and dfs).
Sadly, I also have a bad feeling we won’t do anything in this deadline. It will be a HUGE mistake and an F grade for Stone if nothing happens.

yeah im gonna assume Sac’s pick is off the table, be it for whatever reason. But I’m a closet Monk fan; have been for years. I’m as confident as I can be that he’s getting moved. They aren’t playing him and they need to tank the 2nd half. Monk has not been a high efficiency 3pt shooter over the course of his career, but he’s shooting extremely well this season. He’s a very good ball handler. Two more yrs at $20 mil per is a decent contract for him.

if you make a deal for monk you are getting a 6th man of the yr type player. Monk and Ayo are two targets we should be working to acquire because neither will take away from Reed’s court time. Ultimately next yr you need Reed and Fred manning the point. And you need a real shooting guard next to them. Amen needs to go back to the dunker’s spot, and Bari will come off the bench; he performed excellently in that role at the end of last season and in the playoffs.

If we are talking about the next 2 yrs, shooting guard and rim protector are what this team needs.

It is also worth mentioning that the Houston Rockets, who have come up as a potential Morant trade suitor in rumors, hold no interest in the Grizzlies guard. Although the Rockets aren't interested in Morant, this organization has been gauging the trade market for backcourt upgrades.

Rival teams Houston has held dialogue with are under the impression that the Rockets are seeing what type of return a package of Dorian Finney-Smith and multiple second-round picks can get them at this year's trade deadline, sources said.

While it's unlikely this would net them a player like Coby White, who has been linked to the Rockets previously, other backcourt talents like Jose Alvarado, Ayo Dosunmu, and Scotty Pippen Jr. keep being named as targets for Houston by league personnel. As far as Pippen goes, the Grizzlies haven't given any indications they would move the 25-year-old guard.

The Rockets will not trade Fred VanVleet despite his ACL injury, and it is unlikely that the organization would make a move that puts breakout second-year guard Reed Sheppard into a lesser role.
