I suspect Trump wants to end NATO more than annex Greenland.

if I’m these other countries, the time for talking is over with

if you try to take Greenland, we will be doing X, Y, and Z and you will meet the full force of our allies…try it if you dare

I think in this case it’s all about what Putin wants and what hes been putting in Trumps head. What Trump “wants” is like worrying about what a 5 year old wants. It’s that simple with Trump because he’s that pathetic. He even said it yesterday that at this point it’s “psychological.” Meaning he just wants to say he got it and call it Trump land.

But that’s not why Greenland is a thing. It’s more likely if it’s up to Trump that he’s more interested in invading Ireland for the same reasons plus he has a golf course that he’s had issues with the government about so there that.

It’s a thing because Putin and JD Vance (via Peter Theil) put it in his head that he “needs” it. They are targeting Greenland because it’s the easiest path to breaking up NATO, and shifting the world order into hemisphere subjugation.

So yeah that’s just a differs way of saying you’re right.

Side note but if I was ever in the imperialist business and wanted to be the dictator of the western hemisphere I’m annexing Costa Rica first.

-No standing army to defend itself
-Can connect both oceans and compete as another supply chain route
    -immense natural resources
    -amazing beauty and climate
-cut off central and South America to control flow of trade in land and migration
    -etc etc.

It just goes to show how stupid Trump is. Annexing sovereign countries is wrong but like if you are going to do it…. Ehh… there are much better ones.

Maturity and your kind should never go together. Don’t you have to go and stand in front of ICE vehicles? Just don’t cry like a little biitch that you are when they run your ass over.

I do believe Crixus was defeated after stupidly charging uphill multiple times against two Roman legions under Publicola, which is also a bad soft drink that unsurprisingly, seems to be popular among MAGA types.

Remember when the United States was seen as a 'defender' of people agasint aggressors. The United States was the good guy in the world more than balancing out dictators and evil super powers.

Now even long time allies are uniting to defend themselves from the United States. Who has already taken over one nation which did not attack the United States. And according to Trump, they did it to take their resources. Now he's talking about attacking an ally and stealing their land.

Internally paramilitary thugs with no understanding of the laws they are sworn to enforce, are terrorizing and killing American citizens.

Somehow, we've become the bad guy, the evil super power. Let's hope it can be repaired and the good name of the nation restored. There's a lot of damage done.

(Of course these are broad generalizations relating to our troubled past. But it was always the goal even when the nation fell short, and it was always the perception and reputation the United States had earned)

If the U.S. attacks its allies, I seriously doubt we could ever repair that betrayal. Maybe after a major revolutionary change, or after generations of good-faith cooperation, hundreds of years.

We all have opinions on military action so it's not really fair I'll admit to mock your hawkishness

I started saying that because you questioned John Kelly's motives for calling Trump dangerous. A guy who actually served and has a son killed in war

Kelly was right considering the subject of this thread

Others who directly worked for him in his administration were right. There was really no reason not to believe them. These are honorable people, and if you judge the words of people like these against a pathological, deeply flawed human being without any bias, it should have been a pretty easy decision on whom to believe.

Mark Milley - “fascist to the core,” “the most dangerous person ever”; widely seen as a rebuke to Trump in his retirement speech when he said, “We don't take an oath to a king, or a queen, to a tyrant or dictator. And we don't take an oath to a wannabe dictator. We take an oath to the Constitution…”

Mark Esper - “unfit for office,” “threatens our democracy,” “prevent really bad things, dangerous things… that could have taken the country in a dark direction” (referring to the last year of Trump’s first term)

John Bolton - “unfit to be president,” “a second four will be worse”

Alyssa Farah Griffin - “unfit and dangerous”

    ... (there are more)
