In hindsight, with Nico Collins out for the Patriots game, could we have used Stingley Jr. in a Deion Sanders kind of way (both WR and cornerback) in that loss, would it have made any difference?
Wouldn't have mattered, the problem was CJ Stroud throwing horribly inaccurate passes all game. You could have given him prime Andre AND Calvin Johnson and it wouldn't have changed a thing.
Did they ever disclose what Cade Stover's injury was? Looked like a blown ACL/MCL. CJ really screwed him over with that hospital ball.
Now that the emotions are settled, I don't think we should get rid of CJ. Yes he sucked in the playoffs. But his OL sucked, no Nico, no tight end, no running game. Rookie OC. And the patriots got lucky on 2 TDs, on the 4th down (first td), that ball was tipped, dude just made the play, and that last TD, I don't even think that was a catch (the one-handed), again spectacular play by them. So they got 21 points (including pick 6), instead of pick 6 and a FG= 10 points ( the first TD would of been turnover on downs). 11 points swing right there. We would of scored on the first drive of the 2nd half but Marks fumbled, thats not on CJ
Uhhhhhh... not getting past the divisional round in 3 straight attempts? But I get your point. Also, I am NOT in favor of firing Demeco / Cap... but he def should (1) be amenable to a veteran OC coach (even from the beginning... he thought he found his Ben Johnson in Slowick) (2) recognize what he is asking of an OC & (3) tell BDN we're not bringing in more JC grads so you can get on the wall of fame at JCU
Ryans should’ve benched Stroud by early 3rd quarter at the very latest. Terrible decision to stick with him and lose. Was virtually giving up. Hate so much that he left Stroud in and blocked a chance for a win.
Ten toes down... I don't think $$$ Mills would have been any better. But we will never know. The punt decision was the surrender for me
Most of the bluster in here for the last two days is a result of feeling betrayed by a team that it has been so hard to invest in emotionally because of well... Games like Sunday. With that being said, excuses by our team are wearing thin. Winners win while against the odds. Losers make excuses.
Player friendly coaches like Demeco Ryans are often loyal to a fault and it ends up stopping a lot of them from winning it all when that loyalty is misplaced.
Agree. It's not like we lost any of the games he started in, and he certainly didn't have all the turnovers. He just played smarter with a lousy offensive line and offensive coordinator, didn't hang his head or choke, and mastered a brilliant comeback quarter win.
