I sincerely doubt it. Isaac Paredes is better than the trade bats available outside of Jarren Duran, and he’s better than any free agent hitter outside of Cody Bellinger. The Astros need him in their lineup more than they need Brayan Bello in their rotation. If Bello is the biggest piece from Boston, I think this becomes a three-team deal with the Astros landing Brendan Donovan to play second base and some left field.
Red Sox fans are absolutely delusional. They want Paredes but don't want to give up anyone of worth for him. Most of them think he's only worth Jordan Hicks and a pack of gum.
For what? He hasn't done **** yet, just riding the coattails of Lunhow and to a lesser extend, Click. His two biggest moved were....bringing back JV and Correa.
Extended Altuve—A+ Extended Javier—C so far; this year could make it an A. Traded a year of Tucker for Paredes, Cam, and Wesneski—A+ Helped open up the Japanese market and signed Imai—A+ Brought back Verlander for scraps—B- Traded for Burrows—B Added a ton of pitching depth—A+ Got Correa back—A-
This is pure speculation but I think both teams have multiple irons in the fire. Astros are talking deals for both Paredes and Jake Meyers to different teams, Sox are probably involved with Brendan Donovan if they’re involved with Paredes (although my guess is they like Paredes more and match up better with the Astros). Either way I think teams are working really hard to finalize their rosters in the next 4-5 days. I will be surprised if the Astros make a significant trade after this coming Friday.
But we were told they were the next Beatles ... From AI synopsis: " Duran Duran was often compared to The Beatles during their peak in the 1980s, particularly due to their massive popularity and influence on music and culture, earning them the nickname "the Fab Five.""
Everyone is trying to get the best deal possible for their organization and for something to get done - it requires one side or both to give more than they currently are willing to.
Sounds like someone must blink. I think this bodes well for the Astros, as the Red Sox fans and media are bring critical of losing Alex and not improving 3B while Astris fans and media are content with keeping Paredes. In addition, the Astros CAN put all their starting level players in the same game, the Red Sox can't. They must sit at least one.
I'm a simple man. I'm keeping Parades unless Red Sox gives us Abreu/Duran and one of their highly touted young SP's. They need to do the trade more than us.
Yeah, I think Dana will smartly be stubborn. I still think there is a larger than 90% chance we keep Paredes. It helped move the needle toward a trade when the Sox signed Suarez and did not sign Bregman. It got fans excited again. If the Red Sox get hungry and no one else answers, maybe they get something done.
Trades are incredibly difficult to pull off. It is now January 19. The Astros have been trying to pull off trades all off-season. The closer we get to spring training, the less likely a trade happens. Also, the Astros have resolved all of their shallow pitching issues. Paredes provides a lot of the Astros needs.
