Ya he sucked. I think it’s reasonable to say that a brady or a josh allen could have done noticeably better. Guys like purdy, darnold, certainly would not have.

Purdy and Darnold have been better than CJ

Purdy scored 6 points. 6. Darnold absolutely and completely sucked in the playoffs last season.

CJ is done in Houston, whether the team is ready to accept it or not, it's inevitable. The moment he makes one mistake next season at NRG the crowd will go nuclear on him, and him being the mental midget he is, he'll just crater more and more until he's completely unplayable.

A Schaub-level backlash and related decline is incoming.

He definitely should have caught it but damn you are some type of CJ homer if you thought that was a "perfect pass"...

They still have been better than him for the last two seasons.

Idk, it was right in his hands. Where do you want it? I didn’t even want cj in the draft but i still try to be a little more realistic and honest.

But the niners don't have the Texans defense which can force opposing offenses to lose yards, give up field position, and give up turnovers and points. That's why the Houston offense can afford lots of 3 or 6 and outs, as they've done all season, while still allowing the team to win. Even if you had peak Mahomes, the right offensive strategy is to play conservatively. No need to take chances or expose your quarterback to injury risk.

It was above his head and he had to reach up to catch it. If he throws it at his chest and he drops it, the ball isn't going to pop up in the air like it does when the throw is high...

Edit: Also, you didn't even mention the first pick. It was damn near as bad as the pick 6. If he makes a relatively easy throw to Kirk there, it's at minimum a FG on that drive. Instead he overthrows him by 5+ yards.

    This is pure cope.

any 1st or 2nd string qb in the NFL would’ve done better than CJ yesterday. No question. Most 3rd stringers too.

Any qb that ever started a game for the texans including Brock O and Bobby Hoyer and Ryan Mallet would’ve done better than Stroud yesterday.

It’s real hard to be as bad as Stroud was against the Pats.

Davis Mills wins that game by at least 10 points.

They also gave up a TD return on the initial kickoff, their FB got stuffed on a stupid play call on the next drive on 4th down leading to 3 more points by Seattle, and then the following drive their backup TE fumbled the ball. Once you are that far down against a defense like that, it's not going to be easy and you are essentially forced to try to make plays at that point. Completely different situation. If that had happened against the Pats and then CJ threw 4 picks after being down 17-0 early, then we'd be having a completely different conversation here. As you said, context matters.

That would have been a spectacular catch in those conditions. It was a horrible pass.
There should have been four more picks that hit NE in the hands and they dropped them.
We didn't even need CJ to score any more than the 16 we scored which was largely due to the defense giving us such great field position. Just don't turn the ball over and we win 16 to 14.

    Exactly.
It's almost a curse that they game planned him into looking so good that first year because now people are going to take way too long to come to the realization that he's just not any good. If you take away the rookie year it would be easier for everyone to see hes just another Sam Bradford type and the quicker you get off him and on the road to finding the real QB the better.

Having a brain injury that keeps you out for a month has to put some fear in you.
