Malik Willis actually did well with Green Bay and that’s the thing. You need a coach or a good oc that specializes in getting more out of less and Caley isn’t that dude
CJ's biggest advocate in the media, Dan Orlovsky..who has always had CJ's back has now turned his back on him
That would explain incomplete throws to covered receivers and maybe even sacks but it does not explain wildly off-target throws and mental snafus causing turnovers.
Well when nobody can get open and most runs are getting 0 or negative yards, that leads to a lot of issues. The pick 6 happened because the LT got absolutely annihilated. Obviously he shouldn’t have thrown it so it’s ultimately his fault. Another pick he hit hitch in both hands, perfect pass but he dropped it for a pick. He obviously had a terrible game, but his circumstances were unconscionable. It’s also possible he’s just mentally broken from the tank injury and will never recover, or it’s possible when tank lines up cj will get his mojo back.
Damn hurts like hell as someone who’s defended CJ up until the point where I couldn’t. That was after the 4th pick, I think Davis would’ve given as a better chance from that point because Stroud lost it completely mentally. Now to be objective, there’s no way you’re extending him this offseason - but he’s still relatively cheap before his 5th year option. If you can get a 1st and a second round pick for him I think that’s my price where it would make sense to sell and look at Willis/Mills to compete with a rookie. That being said, Stroud absolutely nuked his trade value after yesterday. Still think the most realistic scenario is he gets another season to prove it, hopefully with some better players on offense. No one wants to hear this after yesterday, but Stroud is only 24 and has objectively accomplished more than a lot of good quarterbacks at that age. He still has value, but tough decisions will need to be made.
It will be really interesting to see how the Texans spend money this offseason. It will likely be a tell on what there plans are for CJ. I think we see Will get his contract. Guys like Settle or Rankins get resigned and after that who knows.
I mean, it’s pretty obvious we aren’t moving on from CJ. Demeco was in full support yesterday. Maybe they can build a better supporting cast and CJ can find a mental state that lets him be productive
I hear you. If no one is doing anything, the QB might feel the pressure to make something happen. However, CJ and everyone knows he doesn't need to make anything happen playing behind this defense. This is the playoffs (playoffs?!) and everyone knows the offense just has to score 10 points the entire game and avoid turnovers and that's a W. Even a crappy QB performance wins that game, just not a horrendous generationally bad performance.
Well unfortunately the defense gave up way more than 10 points, this was a game we had to score to win. This wasn’t the Steelers. i know people will say “just run it 3 times and punt” but guess what, if we do that we get slaughtered in real life. It sounds cool, but it’s not reality.
But you don't know how the game unfolds without the turnovers. Fewer turnovers would completely change the field position game, force the Pats defense to be on the field longer, and force the Pats offense to take more chances. That's why with this defense you can afford to have your offense play super conservatively. If you're behind later in the game, then sure, you can open up the offense but there's no no need to do that when the game is close.
I mean he sucked, no argument there. None of the good offensive players played though, and this isn’t the old ravens or bucs defenses that can hold a good team to 10. Pats had zero trouble scoring tds on long drives though.
Defense would be exhausted & def give up more points. Our offense is control the ball + no TO's. We had no rushing attack & CJ made some horribad decisions. You could see he calmed down after halftime, but the damage was done. Plus injuries kept piling up... 1 of which CJ was somewhat responsible for.
Ultimately when you take away all the good players, the qb can’t do anything. Look at the niners, even with their all world LT (while ours was dogshit) and the best modern era play caller in the sport, they did absolutely nothing once they lost their good players. If the defense lost all the good players, guess what, they would also suck.
While true, it doesn't change some of the bad decisions QB1 made. His job is not to make those mistakes. The pick 6 really changed the complexion of the whole game. That being said, fix the IOL and find a bell cow. Also, any news on Stover? That injury looked season-lost bad
i really have tried to be patient with this dude but i am done. i want a tough, physical offensive line and i want to run the damn ball. trade him for whatever we can get and let's focus on winning at the line of scrimmage. i'm so very tired of the softness.
That second one I remember screaming at the TV, you have to throw that quicker. He was a second late on that throw.
