I’m just listing the available “mobile” guys. I’m just not a fan of Chambliss, I do think he has a place in the league. He is a dog. But I don’t think he’s good enough of a passer to be able to use his athleticism. Would take a flyer on Malik before him. If we take a project QB, I would go after Klubnik, Green or Beck in this draft. But in reality, the only QB in this draft I would take is Mendoza.
If you drafted Anderson, you wouldn't have been bad enough to draft Maye. Maye was always going #2. Demeco obviously would have improved this team wins number.
I personally dont think so, Texans could've easily gotten a top 3 pick especially since it was DeMeco's first year setting up the defense. CJ won them quite a bit of games his rookie year, especially late drives....he was phenomenal that year. We wouldve probably won 3 or 4 games max without CJ.
That would be an absolute upgrade. I’m all in on that if that’s the best we can do. CJ is not a SB winning QB. That’s for sure.
Ain't that the truth. We need to stop taking short cuts and putting bandages on crap. Leaders can't be scared.
And if we gotta pray about something I hope it's that we don't have to go through another year or years of hoping CJ improves. It will be more wasted/frustrating times. Learn from the past with Schaub stop prolonging things with lovers.
I see CJ is getting the Jalen Green treatment from the fan base. Team has a lot more problems than just the QB. But this is part of the deal when you’re a NFL quarterback. Hope he can get his mojo back.
MOVE ON from CJ. He’s had his opportunities. Sending him out for the second half today after FOUR first half picks just tells me that accountability is not a concept that Demeco fully grasps. Unless we remove Stroud from the team, he’ll keep getting sent in there.
a mobile QB ain't gon help this offense. you need a smart QB. a QB who knows when to take off, when to throw away, when to take and not take a sack, when to use your check down when things aren't there. a QB who can process quick and make decision. texans thought we had that with CJ's rookie season. then it just all went away. idk man. this loss is worst than the UH basketball loss in the NCAA final. smh.
Of names mentioned, & QB's with recent successes Joe Burrow, Matt Stafford, Mac Jones, Brock Purdy, Jordan Love, Dak Prescott, Jared Goff Are not mobile, running QB's. Then QB's like Cam Ward, Michael Penix, might have mobility but don't run near as much as it seems. Its not so much about pure running. Its pocket awareness, pocket movement, pash rusher recognition, knowing when to slide, when to take a sack, throw away, the types of scrambles. Sometimes the QB's run themselves into sacks, too. The old Russell Wilson way. Can CJ being more athletic help? Yes. Does CJ need better pocket awareness? Yes, even more. But Its seems asking for a QB with wiggle to avoid all the pass pressures Texans allow. Maybe get better pass protection, instead of finding a diamond in the rough QB of both good passing + good running
AR can't stay healthy. I don't want an injury prone replacement. Levi throws too many interceptions. I just wish we had drafted a Jaxson Dart type rookie. That kid could be the next Josh Allen type QB. He had 9 rushing touchdowns this year as a rookie. Unfortunately, we don't have a draft option at that type prospect this year. We will be forced to stick with CJ next year I'm afraid, but he doesn't deserve an extension. I'd hate to give up a bunch of picks on a trade for anyone other than Joe Burrow for long term. He has played with an offensive line worse than ours, but also had better weapons and coaching. Now, a short term deal while our defense is so great could possibly be better than keeping CJ another year, but our options are limited. We could possibly trade for more picks to move up in 2027 for a better mobile QB and sign someone on a one year deal for 2026 but I'm not sure who would take that deal. Meanwhile we have a defense chomping at the bit for a QB they don't have to carry along another season.
Taylen Green (I know, I already know) has all the tools to run the offense Caley has designed Dude reminds me of Vince Young
