Amen should revise his threat about punching Reed in the face for passing up shots. Should be a two-piece when the pass is to Amen himself.
Well, Reed started the season out well but has now hit the sophomore slump. Teams have adjusted to him, and now he needs to find a way to make another breakthrough.
Reed needs to shoot himself out of this. Quit hesitating and shoot the ball. If this is the Sheppard we are going to get for the rest of the year, we do need to make a move before the deadline. Amen can’t play the whole game.
I'm not seeing more than a starting PG on a great team. Which is fine. But I don't see any star or all star potential.
If thats his ceiling thats fine since we need a FVV successor and his class was pretty bad. I doubt Reed becomes an all star there too many guards in the west.
He….stinks. So he stunk last year and had a few “good” games this year but otherwise back to being ass. Did he pull a Jalen? Hot streak (except in November, not February/March) where everyone thinks this is his fr fr coming out party, corner turned, but in reality right back to where he started/what he was (ass!). Nov.5-26(10 games): 17 points, 3 assists on 54/47/68 Nov.30-present(22 games): 11.7 points, 3 assists on 40/36/83 L5: 9.8 points, 2.2 assists on 36/32/67 L10: 11.3 points, 3 assists on 40/32/80 L15: 12.5 points, 3.4 assists on 41/35/86 L20: 12 points, 3.2 assists on 40/36/83 L25: 12.9 points, 3.4 assists on 42/37/80 I’m not seeing this “generational shooter”. We ain’t gonna talk about the defense.
Udoka is not good at motivating and giving feedback to shooters. Really doesn't understand them. Never figured it out.
I agree with your premise, has been bad no doubt but I’m more worried about overall play than just shooting during his good stretch he was aggressive and wasn’t timid. Would jus catch and shoot he has regressed every single gam and is close to what he was at the beginning of the season The buck starts and stops with him but we have to realize that the dude has been pulled into and out lineups at a whim, it has literally been impossible for him to make jumps or exercise any free reign. I don’t vindicate his p***y play but at some point people have to see a pattern and realize shepp was playing high school ball 2-3 years ago and continued regression is maybe things aren’t working and we shouldn’t do what we have been. Ultimately he doesn’t look like he wants to be here and who can blame him all I’m saying @J.R. Don’t be surprised if he goes back to his November stretch in another team and becomes a meaningful player
Agree. Reed is definitely still a little boy and I'm not talking about his stature. Confidence player that needs the trust from his coach and his peers. Udoka's personality clashes with Reed's big time. I think if we really want Udoka for the long term (god please no) we should move Reed. I personally would kick Udoka today and get a coach that knows how to coach and deal with different player personalities and won't repeat the same "play like a dog" mantra to every player.
Good point that didn't occur to me. Perhaps because Ime was not a shooter in his playing days, he has no idea how to get a shooter going. Steve Kerr, as much as I dislike him, was a great shooter. He understands how to maximize shooters abilities. It's not just about Xs & Os although they are important. It's also about the mental. A lot of shooting is mental. Players aren't machines. They are humans. How they feel affects how they play.
Nearly all coaches weren't shooters.... Kerr is certainly the exception and he is a HOF coach and will probably go down as a type 5 coach all time. I think we are just grasping at straws with this concern. We've went from being one of the best 3 point shooting in the first 20 games to the worst in the last ~18, that just seems like bad luck.
Eh, I think for a 2nd year player he's had a glow up so I can't be too hard on him. I'll stress this again, look at almost any other superstar player, look at their numbers from year to year. Do they go up? Then fine. He was destined to hit a slump, even the best of prospects do. These are people still growing up, kids that would otherwise still be in college, never forget that. This isn't Jalen or Jabari that had backwards years or stagnant years, this is a 2nd year player that took a leap in his 2nd year. Now his 3rd year will be all about consistency. I still see it with him, I think he just needs more opportunity and more confidence.
Nor does he have anyone on his staff who you’d confuse with a former NBA shooter or shooter period. Royal Ivey was a bad NBA player, there’s a couple of Ime’s AAU buddies (good hang!!), and the “shooting coach” Sullivan is a 6’10” post player.
