Dezenzo will make up alot of this. Salazar is a downgrade for sure, but he will only be catching 40 games or so. Nick Allen will only be the backup to Pena and if Pena gets hurt you can expect to see a lot more of Correa at SS.
I don't want Paredes traded BUT I will admit Duran, Caratini, Ability to sign a utility (Castro?) > Paredes, Salazar, Allen
I hate that Paredes will most likely get traded. It’s that ****er Cristian walkers fault lol. I could accept it if they get tolle out of it though. not a fan of Duran, he’s a dick hole
It's not really Walker's fault, it's that this team has holes they need to fill and Paredes is the best asset at a position of depth that we have to use in order to fill those holes.
This was always going to happen as soon as Bregman signed with a team besides Boston. They are desperate for a RH CI bat. Paredes is the perfect match for them and their ball park, same here. They have a surplus of want we need, and we have a suplus of what they need.
This exactly. Same with trading most anybody. I don’t think anyone other than Altuve and Brown are untouchable on the Astros. I will be pissed if they include Cam Smith in the trade, but I don’t think Dana is inclined to move Smith.
Yordan had 6 HR and 27 RBI last year he replaces those 19 and 79 by himself in 2026. All this team needs to do is cut its injuries by 33% and make sure Brendan Rodgers is not the opening day starter at 2B.
Trading Hunter Brown would suck but if he is not going to be extended it would be OK in the right deal. Just not in the current GM situation. Altuve, McCullers, and Correa are untradeable for various combinations of history, no trade rights, fan desires, and organizational respect. Javier is untradeable because of his current value and how his salary is structured. A trade drastically increases his AAV so he has much less value to a new team than to the Astros, making an agreement all but impossible. I actually think Yordan is untouchable because it is highly unlikely that trading helps the 2026 team and Dana Brown needs a good 2026 season, not a good 2028 or 2029 because he's a lame duck. Trading Yordan is a trade for the future and Dana is fighting for a new contract now.
If the Astros get Jarren Duran or Wilyer Abreu in return, there is no reason to be pissed off. Having Duran or Abreu and Walker in the lineup nightly is better than having to figure out who sits that day to get Paredes in the lineup. It also helps balance the lineup by adding a left-handed bat. It’s preferable to basically eating Christian Walker’s contract and getting nothing in return. I think Walker bounces back this year at the plate, too. I believe he wasn’t fully healed from the oblique injury he suffered in Spring Training, and even if he was, his timing was off because he didn’t get enough at bats before the season began. Add in dealing with a new home park, teammates and hitting coach, and it’s not a big surprise he struggled before the All-Star Break. He was much better in the second half of the season.
I don’t want to trade Paredes but if they’re dead set on trading him, I’ll only accept Jarren Duran. Left-handed outfielder with speed and solid defense. I’m meh on Wilyer Abreu.
Duran has plenty of speed and uses it very well but is a poor defender. Abreu isn't fast but is a fantastic defender.
There is no reason to be “meh” on Wilyer Abreu. He has an OPS higher than .800 vs. right-handed pitching the last two years and plays Gold-Glove caliber defense in right field. Plus, four years of club control is a nice bonus, and he hit better away from Fenway Park last season. He’s blossomed after getting traded by the Astros in the Christian Vazquez deal at the 2022 trade deadline.
