They treat it like a summer vacation home, it's like the cheaper Hamptons.

Say what you want about TC but we never had Spurs or Mavs fans take over our arena like this in the playoffs

I don’t think Spurs or Mavs fans would take over any arena…Since when do they have fan presence like that?

we had Tatum getting MVP chants in Toyota Center this year and Curry basically plays a home game here…if Knicks fans could travel to Houston as easily as they can from NY-Philly, then the Toyota Center lower bowl would be completely overrun and infested for sure in the playoffs

You can get from NYC to Philly in 1.5 hours via train during peak rush hour.

You can make it from downtown Houston to Katy in 1.5 hours via car during peak rush hour.

Watching the game last night it seemed like the crowd was really big for a Sunday night. They were also loud. But the seats along the court were mostly empty. I hate that. The team is awesome enough and Houston rich enough to fill those seats every night!

I've been frustrated with this most of my Rocket loving life. I get it when the team sucks, but it happens, and has always happened even when the team is good. Since we aren't socialists we would never give those seats to our proletariat brothers, but I think I've come up with a solution. I know this is not a solution anyone asked for, or even a problem anyone wants to discuss, but it's the bbs and I need a break from the steady drumbeat of picking franchise players and pooping on Ime.

What if the Rockets organization gave every ticket buyer the option to enter a raffle for a courtside seat. "Upgrade your ticket purchase for $2 to enter into the nightly courtside raffle." The original courtside seat purchasers will need to confirm their attendance the day of, and if they don't, their seat, and all the seats that were empty to begin with, will be given to however many lucky fans get chosen in the raffle. Problem solved, and my chances of sitting courtside go up. Everyone wins. Now I can go back to my usual distraction of Youtube videos about Elden Ring instead of working on my marketing plan that might make me enough money to get courtside. Viva la Rockets.

Cause this empty seat thing is embarrassing.

Size of the arena matters also. Teams like Thunders, Blazers and even Warriors have packed arena but their attendance ain’t that much different from us but since less seats in the arena it looks packed. Now I see lots of empty seat in Chase center (GSW) after they moved to new arena and crowd is not as lotus either. Suns even now have packed statism but they have less attendance than us

Houston's crowds have always been like that.

Same thing with concerts. When I saw Tina Turner with my mom and aunts, awesome show. 45 year-old Tina putting on the high energy show, and only a few audience members were standing and dancing along. The rest sat as if in an oil painting.

"But, dude, that was so long ago.....how old are you?" you might ask.

Eleven years ago for The Who it wasn't much better. ZZTop in the 80s was a different story because half the audience was buzzed anyway.

Whenever we go see a Rockets game, the crowd is sedate until something spectacular happens. Fathers who spent all that money are snoring while their kids and wives look around for reactions, slightly embarrassed. People engrossed in their phones. Don't even get me started about when we had Jeremy Lin. I sat in a section where everyone besides my wife and me were Asian. Chatting or looking at their phones until Jeremy Lin touched the ball.

Yeah, Houston crowds leave much to be desired. Except when the troglodytic Lakers fan shows up to yell s*** at our players and actual Rockets fans in the crowd look like they're organizing to follow him to his car and give him the beatdown he deserves (think, American isolationism until your own side is attacked; then you awake Yamamoto's "sleeping giant").

I was in the lower bowl and like a few rows down it was empty. These are 200+ dollar seats. It's crazy that people are down with just deciding to burn 400-800 bucks just not showing up. Also before saying they are just corporate tickets. Usually if they aren't used they will try to give them to employees.I don't know what company is just good with burning money. Our companies does Astros and Texans tickets and usually everyone shows up when they give tickets away.

Wack crowds and "passion" have been a stigma against Houston for decades. It's one reason Houston is not considered top tier for sports. But championships are still allowed and accepted. Win more. Get top tier. Or not. Just win.

Want to flaunt your wealth? Spend a lot on a ticket and then show up fashionably late.

That too, but in general it’s not like the 90s. Rockets crowd is corporate, strippers, bottle girls, die hard fans sit in nosebleed and fans looking for strippers that hang around the lounge and leave by 3rd quarter. @Snow Villiers

I had to chuckle when Bari said the Toyota center “was on fire” tonight. Like all one hundred and two of them?

When you lose 3 in a row to Portland and Sacramento, it’s hard to get people motivated to go downtown on a Tuesday night. Combine that with the fact the Texans just dominated their playoff game and you get a snooze fest.
