...and how exactly do you prove to Johnny Law you are a mother, or are pregnant?

They require all women to register the pregnancy and use this as an excuse for the reduced freedom and invasion of privacy.

If I were the Astros' current GM I think I would just grin and bear it. Don't make any deals just to make them.

The fringe players: Meyers, Sanchez, and Walker are good enough that the options to improve on them are few but not good enough to trade away without sweeteners.

With the 2026 draft potential, this organization can finally move itself back to a point where potential impact players can feed the parent club again. At some point they need to stop depleting it every trade deadline.

Yordan CAN play LF when needed.

According to interviews w/ Dana and Joe, Paredes CAN play 2B when needed.

At 35 years old and coming off of a disappointing season, Walker has no room to complain if reduced to a 75% starter instead of an everyday starter.

At 36, Altuve needs to start taking regular days off to stay fresh and productive.

Sanchez has a solid track record vs RH pitching and its reasonable to have him in the bottom of the lineup vs them.

Cam Smith may spend time in AAA but is still a future fixture in RF for this team and shouldn't be buried or given up on.

Zach Cole, Brice Matthews, and Zach Dezenzo have enough talent and shown enough to be given reasonable chances in Houston before/without being buried or given up on.

Let's go to spring training and see what happens. (other than finding another catcher)

If this is the blueprint for a walker trade...
Can't wait to see walker with the Astros in spring training!

I agree totally. If you can’t free up money by moving Walker or are not willing to go way over the tax, stay put. We have a competitive team as currently constructed. I’d love to get Caratini back, but I’m guessing that’s a no go.

I know this is minor, but if you are rotating through and having chatGPT trying to figure out how to get all these guys playing time . . . the pinch hit/situational bench options could be real game changers.

I am looking over the platoon splits of the Astros players and came across a very curious detail.

Why is it that so many players have a worse OPS in the split that they also have the lowest K rate?

    Altuve 15.3% / 765 vs RHP 22.6% / .799 vs LHP
    Walker 28% / .723 vs RH. 26.3% / .698 vs LH
    Paredes 18.3% / .835 vs RH. 12.7% / .691 vs LH
    Pena 18.1% / .858 vs RH. 13.1% / .769 vs LH
    Diaz 15.7% / .695 vs RH 20.8% / .726 vs LH
    Meyers 18.1% / .737 vs RH. 15.5% / .682 vs LH

Yordan 2024 ( waste to look at 2025)
    13.1% / .924 vs RH. 18.7% / 1.029 vs LH

    Dezenzo
    MiLB car. 19.7% / .892 vs RH. 18.6% /.659 vs LH

    Anybody have an answer?

I was looking at 2025 ZIPS preseason projections vs current 2026 ( Depth Chart)

    C: 2.8 WAR vs 3.0 WAR
    1B: 2.7 vs 1.8
    2B: 3.2 vs 3.1
    3B: 3.5 vs 4.5
    SS: 2.7 vs 4.0
    LF: 2.3 vs 3.0
    CF: 2 1 vs 2.3
    RF: 2.1 vs 1.6
    DH: 4.9 vs 4.1

    Position: 2026 team + 1.1 WAR

They are way down on 2026 rotation (15.5 vs 11.0) mostly because they have Hunter as the only SP over 1.8 WAR.

Bullpen is about the same but slightly favors 2025 (4.3 vs 4.0)

    Overall
    2025: 46.2
    2026: 42.5

I like the current rotation ( especially 3-6) much better than this time last year but mostly I posted this to show the lineup is better as it is.

Paredes should be off the table in any trade

    I like Isaac.

He is a reasonably versatile young player who puts up solid numbers and has respect from playing hurt last year.

I love that he is on my favorite team.

    That said:
    • he is much more good than great, and plays the corners rather than up the middle.
    • He is playing on his 4th team before hitting free agency.
    • 28 different 3B had 400+ PAs last year and he was 12th in fWAR.
    • He had a .691 OPS vs LH pitching last year so could become more if a match up guy.
He is not the kind of player who is untouchable.

He is the kind that takes a wildcard contender to a division champion.

The Astros are not trading Correa - he has a no trade clause, and the owner is the one that brought him back.

Also - I don't know what he will end up contributing to the Astros the next three seasons, but based on his recent past - it should be a lot. He was a 4 WAR level player once the Astros got him down the stretch, and he is the Astros best defensive infielder that can play all four spots.

Maybe Correa blows out his ankle or back - I don't know, but if he is relatively healthy, he should give the Astros between 3 and 5 WAR, even if he misses some time.

I disagree with the last statement. I would absolutely hate it if any potential AL playoff team added Paredes to their team. Mariners, Yankees, Detroit, Toronto, Boston. He lengthens a lineup with a high quality, pain in the ass AB, offers thump on top of that, and plays credible defense. He can take a division champ to the title.

Honestly - with Paredes, and where he would be traded completely depends on what the Astros get back.

Paredes can go to Boston if the Astros get back Wilyer Abreu and Connelly Early or Marcus Phillips.

There are enough players on both sides to make it beneficial if the Red Sox are willing to move some of their young pitching.

Abreu does struggle more against lefties, but he isn't atrocious and is a very good fielder in the outfield.

An outfield of Smith/Meyes/Abreu would be close to elite -- and Abreu hits righties well enough to hit in front of or behind Alvarez.

Abreu is under team control for like 4 more years - and Early is a good #3 type pitching prospect. Marcus Phillips is raw but when I have seen his fastball, it is a ++ offering.

I don't see how that is a disagreement to my statement?

If a guy takes a wildcard team to a division champ, then I find it reasonable that he would take a division champion to a title but not a wildcard to a title.

I see him as a great 3rd or 4th best player on a team but a weak 1st or 2nd

And that is why he isn't the type of guy who is untouchable.

Is this kind of return for Paredes possible?

On his podcast rome thought we'd need to include a prospect to get Duran.
I know he's not abreu but assuming similar value.
