Jabari's game has always looked consistently serviceably mid. Its why Jabari does not get harsh criticism & expectations. He does not do anything too extreme. He might look a bit "ineffective", but never ever epically terrible. He will struggle with dribbling & finishing. But generally plays within limitations. In contrast, Tari Eason has a disruptive style mixed with great plays, and some bonehead stinkers. Jabari just doesn't have those kinda of "lows". But this Blazers game is different with Jabari. He looked like complete sh** both ends. This game is an example of what critics think they've always seen with "Brickari". I don't think its necessary to crap on players just cuz it's the "culture thing to do" like Philly fans booing Santa Claus. But it's probably good for Jabari to get more pressure on his play
Jabari has never shot this poorly all of his career, so I just hope it's a fluke thing he leaves in Portland. Hopefully he'll get his confidence back at home.
I don't think Rookie Bari ever had two games shooting this poorly from three though. I'd be very surprised if this wasn't his worst game ever yeah. Only good thing about it is...at least its in the regular season lol, so it can be easily forgotten. If he did this in two playoff games it would probably ruin his career.
If he flat out sucks (which he does btw), why leave him in?!! Just because he’s KD’s boy? The double standard is glaring and I’m getting tired with this.
People whine about his handle About his rebounding About his toughness About his perimeter defense Are you guys dreaming? We drafted a shooter who has struggled to be an average shooter for 3.5 seasons now. Those other things all have to wait in line. The "not worried about his jumper" thing we've been saying for years can't be taken for granted anymore. Players improve well into their prime but you're never waiting for a shooter - who can't do much else offensively - to show he can shoot in year 4. You need to flash a very high potential to be given that long a leash. I'm starting to think he's not invested a minute off the court on fixing his shooting in the past 3 summers. The amount he's improved in 4 years (barely) can easily be attributed to just getting minutes and shots. I think he's obsessed with not ending up just a great shooter, so much so that he forgot to be an above average shooter. This dude needs an intervention. His ego is kicking his ass and ruining his career. Some grown up needs to sit him down and tell him to stop being so emo about his reputation and start getting serious about production. Show me you're an above average 3&D player before you try to prove you're Jayson Tatum.
I don't know who is more to blame. Udoka for leaving him out there or Jabari with his "shooters gotta shoot" mentality. He was 0-8 in the 4th quarter, like holy **** that's bad.
Not about KD, he's Ime's boy. Just like FVV - Mr 39% from the field and 32% from 3 - got shielded from being traded because he's a "sir yes sir" kind of guy. It's been great having Ime whoop these guys into shape, but boot camp is over and now that they've grown up it's time to teach them to think for themselves and make good choices independently. Externship discipline is not a replacement for self-discipline. That's true in basketball and in life.
Jabari has never consistently had confidence. That's the problem. He just seems to be ok being a middling role player.
Hesitating instead of smoothly progressing from dip to release. It's a confidence thing, a mental thing. Same old problem. Defensively he cant stay with guards on switches. Good interior and help defender. He's basically a small ball 5 that doesn't rebound or shoot well. Lol. Boston will love him and Mazzula will fix his head.
You make a great point about him potentially not being invested in the offseason. The two players drafted before you that were supposed to be drafted after you have lapped you 5x. How are you not livid? But Jabari just seems content being a guy. A 3rd pick should strive to be the guy.
