    LOL the **** he can’t.

Windhorst/Scotto/Stein/every NBA insider: Udoka pushed for Durant trade

Joe the Plumber: Udoka is innocent, has no say

This exact time last year: Rockets not interested in Durant or Butler or any older superstar. Rockets want someone more aligned with their timeline.

•“In late October, after Houston signed center Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green to contract extensions, Marc Stein of The Stein Line reported that, while rival teams thought Houston was still interested in Durant and would be interested in Butler if he became available, the messaging from the Rockets was that they were unlikely to make any trade of consequence during the season. In mid-November, ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported that Houston was telling teams it wasn't interested in trading its young players and that Tari Eason and Amen Thompson specifically were "labeled off limits."

The Stein Line then reported that the Rockets had remained consistent with their stance, even though rivals thought they were merely biding their time until they could make a play for Durant or Giannis Antetokounmpo. It followed up that report with another one: Houston's interest in Durant may have been overstated, and the front office maintains that it is prioritizing internal development, regardless of what executives around the league are saying.”

Exactly. Our offense is just awful to watch, but at least in the last two seasons our core was younger and hungry, so we could translate defense to offense. Now that we finally have better weapons on offense, we need someone who can put all the pieces together. Also, a pure pg is needed, that’s area is on Stone not on Ime. But all of these recent L’s against mediocre teams - yep, that’s on Ime.

Of course he’s not being fired, got a fat 6 year extension

Knicks were interested, probably could’ve got a future first

Rockets make the dumbest decisions with giving out these unmerited contracts. Unbelievable. This goes way back too. Not just now. I mean if Ime could have better and more watchable offensive schemes, maybe he could be okay but man, these schemes are like the opposite of productive at times.

We should learn something from the Pistons.

Wait, did the Rockets really hand Ime a 6-year extension? What the hell were they thinking? He still had 2 years left on his original deal. Why not let him prove himself in Year 3 of that 4-year contract?

And yes, I understand he'd been successful in the regular season in his first 2 years. But his shortcomings on the offensive end were glaring last season and the team lost in the first round despite being the 2nd seed.

Now they may have to eat that massive contract if this slide continues.

Rewarding Ime for what he has achieved and further motivating him isn't a bad decision. Team's turnaround over the last 2 years, getting the 2nd seed, and putting up a valiant effort vs Warriors was good enough to reinforce the confidence on the coach. Good practice IMO. And hey - if his contract needs to be eaten, that's not a problem. He can be gone w/o further thought.

Question is what is that he needs to achieve this year? Next year? What is the minimum expectation from Ime? Is the FO willing to spend more assets to give in Ime's requests? That's what I'm curious about.

After last night’s Nets game, my irritation with Udoka has really peaked. We are currently fourth in the West, but the conference is extremely tight. Teams are separated by razor-thin margins: lose two games and you can drop two spots; lose three and you are mathematically at risk of falling as far as eighth. In such an environment, the priority should be to rest the core players as much as possible—especially KD. Punishing the third-unit players by not giving them a chance to redeem themselves just because they messed up the previous game, and instead keeping the starters on the floor until the very end against a team like the Nets, isn’t accountability. It’s bad coaching.

mayn... idk what yall r b****in about....

    Ime an Ime fan!

    Silas sucked....

MDA was just about running gimmicks on one end of the court and dgaf about rebounding or defense...

    JB was worthless....

    McFail couldnt connect with players....

I liked Adelman... but he was very stoic and kinda a lil b****... cant allow for 1 assistant the FO wanted?

I loved JVG... but too offensively challenged...

Rudy was obviously the man... but even he struggled to relate to younger players (Francis) and it wasnt like he was some Xs and Os genius...

I gotta say Ime is about the most well-rounded coach we've had in decades...

I'm not saying I agree with everything he does... but at least he aint shipping out all of our centers to run some crackhead smallball gameplan...

Seems like most want either some super successful coach with multiple championships or some young pup that's never carried the load of a HC....

The grass is always greener... but Ime good with Ime.

Fans and thinking their coach/manager is terrible and holding the team back from it's true potential is a tale as old as time. No matter how objectively good a job the coach has done, this will always happen as soon as the coach succeeds in raising expectations.

Udoka's issue is that he did too good a job of coaching his first two seasons.

There are legitimate concerns with what Udoka can do long term towards a title, but fans spout such hyperbolic nonsense about how terrible he is it makes them pretty easy to eye roll at even if some issues raised are valid.

Sort of like the fans in the Texans' section wanting to fire Demeco after the the teams' slow start.

6th best record in Association despite injuries and incorporating/reincorporating players all season.

D’Antoni, Adelman funner O, ok. Ime funner results, AOK.

The best part of the early extension is it lets players know Ime is in. Period. Think mediocre Lasorda with LAD. His status enabled his successes. It means something.

The goal is not 6th best we have lost to every single bad team in the west...and Ime was part of those loses by not adjusting at all...as we choked away leads.

Ime doesn't strike me as a great floor general, but a great coach nonetheless.

I thought Mike Brown would have been a great fit but we went with Ime. As jkayp put it, Ime ok with Ime.

Lmao imagine thinking Ime is better than MDA or Adelman. Adelman won a series and almost beat the would be and defending champ lakers without Yao. Ime lost to a 7th seed in the 1st

again people will disregard objective evidence to fuel their fandom

Watched the Knicks Spurs game a few days ago. The BBS would have crucified Mike Brown for his decisions in the fourth quarter.
