Ime still hasn’t tried it with Amen and Tari at the top of the 2-3 zone for a reason I don’t know. I’d try that before axing it. Adams/Sengun/Jabari got the credit last year but the other 2 guys at the top were doing incredible work to make it happen Shout out Amen, FVV, Dillon, Tari, Jalen, and Holiday
Thats crazy. What I can see is Tari os the floor raiser, prevents Rockets from getting beat down by crappy teams. Lets see if we can beat OKC now although that 17/18 stat is crazy.
I don't think there's a single person saying trade Tari because of his on-court production or on-court presence. It's purely because him being actually available to be on the court isn't something which can be trusted as yet. We all know his on vs off court stats are ridiculous.
I think plenty of people choose sides and are using the injury as an excuse for not recognizing how good Tari is. I hear too much that Tari is more a bench type of player despite Tari actually having better results starting. Granted, a lot of that I think is just randomness, but again the thought that Tari is a bench type of player is BS. Maybe Tari isn't good enough to be a starter long term, but that is more dependent on who else is on team, Tari's skill level, and not the type of player Tari is. I get that it may take me a long time to change my opinion, but I do follow large samples of data (eye test and stats).
I doubt Ime sends him back to the bench, although he did that a year ago when the Rockets ran off 10 straight while he was starting. Once Amen got healthy from the ankle sprain, he replaced Tari in the starting lineup. And the Rockets predictably lost the 2nd game in which Tari was a reserve.
Tari might not come off the bench again until he’s in his 30’s. It’s not uncommon for these 3 and types to have a big shooting leap in their mid 20s ala Dillon Brooks, Lou Dort, or PJ Tucker. Tari’s shot wasn’t that bad to begin with. I don’t think he’ll be a primary scoring option but on this team with this many threats, I’m feeling more and more comfortable with Tari attacking the weaker defenders that are forced to check him. Cheers to good health. Time and experience should clear up some of the fine details in his game.
Tari/Amen/KD/Sengun are staying in the lineup. I think it’s just a question going forward of Reed vs Bari. Bari is really playing well so it’s hard to see him getting booted from the starters. But if we were somehow able to cut our turnovers in half with better ball-handling, I’m sure it would translate into more wins. Maybe Reed just plays big minutes off the bench for the rest of the season. I’d really like to see the Tari lineup against high-level teams.
Tari's jump shot is looking very good. If only we could start 7 guys. Silver needs to change the rule!
Considering how well the starting lineup is doing and the fact Reed is getting a lot of minutes, I doubt very much he becomes a full-time starter this season. I think Ime should (and will) leave well-enough alone. With Amen playing better, DFS getting up to speed, Tari giving the starting lineup some extra kick and Reed continuing to gain seasoning, the team will continue evolving the next 45 days right up to the ASB.
I don’t think Jabari is loosing his starting job this year and I don’t think “it’s a question” for Udoka like you’re suggesting. I could be wrong but barring some type of injury Bari will start the rest of the year. And I don’t think we need to overthink this Reed starting thing. He’s doing ok and getting good minutes off the bench. And team has blown out the opposition with the current starting lineup.
The floor spacing just from KD/Jabari/Tari is insane so far this season, which gives Amen and Alpi tons of options in how they play. Then on defense everyone is huge and at least somewhat switchable.
