To be fair, all of these quotes are from the preseason and training camps. No one actually knows how things played out in reality.
That’s fair to point out, but preseason and training camp quotes are still statements from CJ, Ryans, and Caley about what he’s allowed to do at the line. In the NFL, most checks and audibles are subtle or protection-based and don’t always show up on broadcasts. First it was “he doesn’t have these options,” now it’s “we need visual confirmation.” Even if we don’t see every adjustment on TV, the quotes from all involved confirm that CJ has more pre-snap control in 2025 than he did previously. I’m not claiming to know 100%, but one person is claiming CJ doesn’t have that control when there are direct quotes stating otherwise, and another is claiming they were lying.
It appears as though you're saying he's incapable of playing the QB Position, which we all know is clearly not the case. Either that or you just don't like him. He was successful in college and he's been successful in the NFL, so I think its the latter, you just don't like him. He's been in the league 3yrs and each of those yrs, he has been in the Playoffs. I'll take that every time
At times this season, he has been incapable of playing the QB position....and that's why the offense has been so mediocre, needing to be carried by the best defense in football. I understand that your blind devotion to Stroud has nothing to do with football, so it's not like this conversation is going anywhere, but I'll spell it out for you anyway. Stroud has regressed from his rookie season. This season he's faced the least pressure of his career....and yet it's constantly used as an excuse for his failure. He'd face even less pressure if he was able to read defenses and know when and where the blitz is coming from. On top of that, he's missed open receivers all season long, killing what should have been promising drives. I know that simple minded people go to team accomplishment when they don't have anything valid to use to defend individual players....but the Texans don't make the playoffs without winning 3 straight with Davis Mills....guess he must be an amazing QB too, right? Any honest person knows that the Texans have been completely carried by their defense all season. The offense was a near constant embarrassment. If Stroud played this season like he did his rookie season, the Texans most likely are a one or two loss team right now looking forward to a bye. Instead he's been mediocre at best....to date, he has the exact same number of game winning drives as Davis Mills. That's not a QB who looks like a promising star on the rise....what he looked like after his rookie season, it looks like "just a guy" being carried by an elite defense.
This is true, but I don't think it's a safe assumption to believe they were all just lying. We can argue that maybe they scaled some of that back after Stroud proved incapable of handling the responsibility, but there's really nothing to base that on.
