New York Pizzeria Grimaldi's Napoli 1905 Pizza in SL Town Center is really good too Had Gepetto's I think it was for the first time a few weeks ago and it was good.
Gypsy Poet and Aviator. Gypsy Poet is better, but ordering is kind of a pain in the ass for how busy it always is, and the parking sucks (Heights location). Aviator is good and easy to obtain.
If you live anywhere near the Southwest side, this place is a must try. The owner is from Buffalo so apparently this is some Buffalo style pizza. Cup N Char Richmond TX Online Ordering
That place looks really good, I have a NY Style Pizza joint by my house (Champion Forest Area), and it sucks. The 2 best pizza joints I have been to is Mama's pizza in Omaha and the other is a chain in St Louis called Imo`s Pizza. Never been to NY but it's on my bucket list for Pizza and Bagels
I remember liking those rectangular school cafeteria pizzas. I don’t think it’s nostalgia, either. It’s not like I remember those dry burger patties, room temp white hamburger buns, and limp pickle chips fondly.
The 2 nostalgia pizzas I still eat a couple of times a year are Bagel Bites and Red Baron French bread supreme
For as good as the food scene in Houston is (and it is elite), I have never had good pizza in Houston. I didn’t realize how bad it was until I lived other places. I am not entirely sure why.
Are you a fan of the thick pan pizzas at places like Uno? I saw a video of someone eating one and it looks good, but I am a thin crust fan but would like to try one
I saw this post hadn’t been updated in a decade and a half, and it spoke to me just how bad our pizza scene is here. I’d add that our whole Italian scene is lacking. There’s a few marginally decent spots each with a decent dish or two, but having had good Italian (and not just in Italy), it’s really kinda sad here.
Years ago Candelari's had one called the Wrigleyville - sausage (theirs is excellent) & mushrooms, that was pretty damn close to as good as anything I've ever had in Chicago. Unfortunately it looks like they moved locations and don't do deep-dish anymore. But I'd bet their thin crust stuff is quite good.
Pretty sure we’ve had this talk before. I also don’t get it, LOVE the food in Texas but there is some massive disconnect when in comes to pizza. It’s like people don’t even know no what it is…
