Shep 0-3ft is 82% on 5% of his shot attempts. This means it’s almost purely fast breaks with a few wide open lane drives/cuts. FVV is a career 0-3ft 55% on 15% of his attempts Fred is one of the worst rim pressure PG to be a borderline allstar caliber that you could find though. You’d think Reed would have to be better, but we won’t know until he actually starts attacking the defense. Other comparisons for 0-3ft G. Dragic - 65% on 29% of attempts George Hill - 66% on 23% of attempts Steve Nash - 64% on 19% of attempts Steph Curry - 65% on 15% of attempts If Reed can get his attempts up to at least 10-15% while maintaining a finishing rate of anything around 60%, without drastically increasing turnovers, it would be a game changer.
It doesn't sound crazy at all. He is physically taller and has better hops than Fred. It's only natural that he can finish at the rim better. Fred has better handles and is more crafty. But he's very limited inside the arc because of his lack of height and athleticism.
Reed is averaging 60% TS this season. Already way more efficient than Failen Green. His 3ball is where it should be. His middy is getting there His rim finishing can/will be better. Like above poster said- If sheppard consistently finishes to the rim at good volume and 60%, it could be a legit game changer and he could be in all star talks as soon as next season.
Why is that mind blowing? Castle is a vastly superior defender and is actually younger. I don’t think anyone knows for sure who will be better - but a lot of people would choose Castle.
Reed with wemby would be disgusting. I completely agree that a lot of people would take castle though, there’s a ton of people who can’t look past counting stats and narratives (see last season ROY as a perfect example).
19/7/5/1.5 at 21 years old and he is shooting over 50% from the floor… and that isn’t even addressing his defense, which is already elite. He has areas of his game to work on - but he is getting 19 points on 13 shots and is shooting 61% from 2 this year. His turnovers are high, but he has roughly a 2:1 ratio and is learning a new position. His three is poor - but he is still young. Castle and Sheppard are VASTLY different players- why I don’t like comparing them, but that doesn’t mean Castle doesn’t deserve credit. He is a rapidly improving player - just like Sheppard. While I love Reed, I also wouldn’t mind having Amen and Sheppard on the court together defensively. I think Sheppard fits the Rockets better than Castle and I think Castle fits the Spurs better than Sheppard.
yeah I think they are both going to be good pros, but their skill sets are very different. They’re high-end outcomes are not mutually exclusive. Castle is going to make an all defensive team and he’s going to be a high end passer, and great at getting to the rim. I like him a lot. Reed’s never gonna make an all defensive team, but he will be an elite shooter, he’s gonna force turnovers, and has the potential to run the floor at a high level. I think they are going to end up being the best players from that draft.
Just be thankful wemby didn't get an all time level movement shooter because that would basically make the league pointless for years.
Don't sleep on Sarr either. The fact that it appears his 3P shot has already come around is highly promising for his career.
Evidence that calling a draft weak before the players play might be a little too soon. Turning out to be a much better than expected draft class.
