I think that Trump misspelled the word "Offal".

That golden look with the intricate patterns has a Middle Eastern palace vibe. Wouldn't be surprised if those visits to Saudi and UAE royal halls left an impression. Wall is too white though.

The thing that kills me is the "walk of fame" idiocy. It's a wall of presidents. They are all famous by the fact that they served as President of the United States. I could see "walk of fame" if it was some photos of the people awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, but presidents? No.

And it's not like the presidential portraits aren't displayed on other White House walls. It's sophomoric.

Guy I worked for, then with, back in the day in Houston reminds me of Trump in that way. He grew up in a Jewish family in Meridian, Texas, the son of the local General Store owner (so he wasn't poor, relatively).

Then he was eventually a multimillionaire...I went to both his house and his beach house, and both were so ostentatiously outfitted with "slap you in the face" decor that when you walked in you had to take a bit to just take it all in before you could really function.

Dunno where I first heard that over a decade ago, but it's spot on.

Yes. I used to live in NYC and long before he entered into politics. Your statement was still true and talked about at the time

Ugh. What a waste of marble. Plus, it looks like it would fall apart with a little use.

Marble is pretty, IMO, but deadly uncomfortable. I know nothing about "battleship," but the thought comes to mind that a line class of Trump battleship (if it is ever built) may look very nice to some, but be utterly useless -- billions for appearances? Meanwhile, Americans are struggling to pay for health care and housing.

Why do you criticize private donations to build a ballroom but remain silent about the countless BILLIONS stolen from the American people by Somali immigrants?

The post you responded to is about marble and battleships, and how they may be pretty but ultimately wasteful. It is not about ballrooms.

If billions are stolen, the government should prosecute those responsible. What has this administration actually done about that? Have those cases been taken to court? In other related cases where millions were stolen from the government, this administration has instead pardoned people who were convicted, not merely accused, and even eliminated millions in fines and restitution.
