Hey bro, how are you doing? How is she reacting to the treatment?

    This girl won't quit man.
She is 2 weeks into the FMT capsules. Her energy/behavior is pretty much back to normal.
She started eating her kibbles about 4 days ago. What got it going was soaking it in some warm water for 10-15 mins.

I also ordered a microbiome test from the same company. will let you know how that turns out...gonna take 2 weeks to get results once I send a sample in.

She's still on a high dose of steroids which has its side effects.
She's lost her hair a bit (had such a thick fluffy poodle coat). Eyes are more watery...
I feel like she has some sort of autoimmune disorder...

Either way, she's climbed back up from the depths of hell. Hoping to have a semi normal christmas with her!
But who knows what the long term outlook is, or if this is all just a fluke recovery..

@Salvy turns out it was a fluke recovery and she's relapsed again.
We got 10 days of "normal" eating/pooping...thought we were out of the woods but she's stopped again monday.
At this point, i think it's time to say goodbye.

We scheduled an in home service for friday. Hoping to spend one last christmas with her.

So sorry to hear that, just know we are here for you and that you really did do your best.

Give her plenty of love, many dogs don't get that. I was driving Sunday morning and passed up a young dog walking behind some old man. I thought it was just an old man with his dog but as I looked at my rear view mirror the old man was pissed at the pup and started going at the dog as if to kick him. I felt so bad, the young pup just wanted someone. I wanted to turn around but I was running late and had no idea if it was someone's dog or maybe just a street pup. Point is this happened Sunday and I still occasionally wonder how this doggy is doing.

Many animals suffer greatly with no one by their side and while this is unfortunate your dog was very lucky to have you. She is also very loved and cared for, I do hope you guys have a wonderful Christmas despite the sadness. Stay strong for her.

Our animals are a blessing in our lives, but there is no mistaking the pain of their departure. I wish you a wonderful Christmas together and may your memories together help diminish the pain thereafter.

My sweet baby is gone. It freaking hurts like hell. I can't stop thinking about her.

It's been the best 3 years of my life.

How you holding up? Time heals man and she is no longer suffering. She had a home, a family, food and most importantly love. She was lucky to have you as you were lucky to have her friendship and loyalty.

    Thanks for asking bud.

Not doing well. First day without her and it's tough because of all the routines she was a part of.
I get coffee every saturday with her and she would be at the back door before I grabbed by keys because she knows it's saturday..
it's just the small things. i keep looking for her. wondering where she is...

I would still do the last 3 years all over again even if I know it ends up like this. It was just that good. I will find a way to post some pics of her.
Every single person who has met her couldnt believe how sweet she was. she's been through some ****. before I picked her up, she had a terrible ear infection that led to her losing her hearing in that ear.

a DNA test from embark found two matches at 54%...which they think are her sons..

Not sure if/when you'd be ready for it, but adopting older dogs that nobody else will adopt is an amazing thing to do. Everybody wants puppy. I'm between dogs and i've been thinking about this. When you mentioned "best 3 years" that made me read back in this thread and think.

Yes! 100% agree with you that rehoming/rescuing older dogs is so rewarding.
We are not exactly sure how old she was. We found a shelter intake form that said she was 5.5 years old. And that means she was about 9.

My sister raised a puppy and now he is 9 years old. The first 2-3 years were hell.
