Tari took on the assignment of guarding the Lakers’ best player and forced 3 early TOs on Doncic, IIRC. I’m glad Ime was flexible enough to game-plan the best lineup instead of sticking to the same old approach.
Yeah. I bet he does want to start. I made the thread 3ish seasons ago. Here's the thing though, it isn't Tari vs. Ime. It isn't Tari vs. Jabari. The reason Tari isn't a starter is pretty simple: 22-23: 82/82 games played 23-24: 22/82 games played 24-25: 57/82 games played 25-26: 14/28 games played 175/274 games played. 64%. Not even 2 out of 3 games. He can't physically hold up to 30 minutes a night. He can't physically hold up playing two games in two nights. 79/164 since his first season, where the leg issues began. 48%, not even half the games. Prerequisite to starting is being available.
It’s probably safe to assume that every team in the league (with the exception of the ones loaded with old superstars) are going to pressure the ball handlers going forward. Unless of course we decide to change something and make them pay.
They will, and the Lakers tried and had a little bit of success in the 2Q with their all defensive lineup. The funny thing is, among the key players, I trust Tari more than almost anyone else to bring the ball up under pressure. I don’t trust Sengun, KD, Amen, or Bari. Tari, Holiday, Tate, and Reed (though he’s not yet strong enough to handle very physical pressure) are the only players I trust under physical on-ball pressure.
I have the same feeling. I really like Tari. But the reliability is a concern. That's why I'd rather have a boring Toyota than a Jeep. And Tari has the tendency to do something foolish at crucial moments of a close game. That's another kind of reliability issue. We'll see how DFS performs after he shakes off his rust. Tari, DFS, and Reed will compete for the start job down the road. Okogie's time as a starter is done, though he is still a valuable guy off the bench.
I guess if the alternative is josh okogie... Still baffling why hes on the team or why hes getting so many minutes
its about time. Ime should never ever start Sheppard or Okogie again. They are clearly so much better with him.
I love the smell of tradebait in the morning! Tari plays great when he plays. He is a career injury risk and wants more money than he's worth. He is a trade chip to me. Look, I like Tari just like everyone else. But he has a significant injury risk, doesn't play back to backs (maybe still?), and his 3 point shooting will likely drop off. If he would play for $15-$18 million then maybe I could handle it. But $20 to $25 mill for a constant risk of injury is a no for me. It seems like they offered him the right kind of contract, one that had incentives and he didn't match them. Tari is also a bit full of himself. And his mom is known to insert herself into the equation whenever she feels he is slighted. Trade him before other teams find out. Start him a lot, show he's healthy, then get something good for him.
I'm out on Amen handling the ball aside from transition opportunities. Against a set defense, he tends to dribble into traffic, with no plan and it's a turnover waiting to happen. He's got to make better decisions, and he has to shoot better. He can bring the ball up and see if there's a path to the rim, if not .... give it up and assume the dunkers spot. If you want to call that a point guard, fine by me. Not sure why we'd look for a guard in the case of Tari going down again, since he's a forward? I don't think there's a deal out there that makes this team better anyway. They just don't have much movable salary.
This new lineup might be the right one for the Rockets. We have 3 defensive studs in Amen, Tari and Bari. As well as 2 stars in Alpe and KD.
Your mistake is not counting the injury risk with Tari. If there was no significant injury history/risk, he would have had his extension already. So no, it’s not “minimally” what Bari got. If he was not often injured, sure you could say that. But not when it’s obvious that he’s a big injury risk.
Such a Reed Hater. Reed is the best PG we have on the roster, and needs time to iron out his mistakes and learn. Reed is the future PG on this team...for sure. This guy would have traded Steve Nash...lol. DD
nope that’s ignorant of you to call me this. Its performance based. Merit based. If you don’t perform and you’re a developmental player on a championship contender you should not start. They are 1-3 when Sheppard starts. I also mentioned okogie. This would make me an Okogie hater as well. What does Sheppard have to do with Nash? Your statement assumes Sheppard will be an MVP or star level player. This is idiotic. I advocated a trade for Thompson. Am I a Thompson hater? How about all of you who advocated for trading Jalen or Jabari or Fred? Are you all haters as well? Please stop the stupid judgement and unfounded accusations.
It isn't performance based at all .....lol....it is that you don't like him. How is Tari starting performance based? DD
Nope. You have nothing that substantiates your claim. The fact you only bring up Sheppard when another player is mentioned in the post shows your bias and presumption. Eason provides experience, defense, running the break well, and finishing on drives in the paint.
