Reed is learning from his mentor, KD, who does exactly the same thing, especially in the 2nd half when the Rockets have a lead.

How many seconds, FVV is slower than DIRT on getting into a play.

I think Reed's two major areas to improve on offense are:

    1. Decisiveness. He needs to process faster. It should get better with more experience.

    2. He doesn't have much confidence in his ball handling. Maybe he's not very good at it so he shouldn't be confident about it. He backs off whenever he feels insecure about keeping the ball. Handling is something he needs to work really hard on in order to be a good NBA guard.

Reed off the bench with Okogie and DFS is a good thing. Willing passers who can give him cover on D.

This is a team wide thing not just a Reed thing it seems whenever we build a lead we just decide to waste clock. KD has been doing it all year and it’s been killing us.

spot on, and picking up his dribble. There are games when he doesn't do that and looks like a star PG..and other games forgets that

I think one problem is that Reed Sheppard is a PG who wants to run an offensive system.... and Ime doesnt want to run an actual offensive system, he just wants to have a ton of guys out there going Iso over and over again.

Can't really blame Sheppard for being hesitant.

I swear it's like thumbsucking. It's his safe space, picking up the dribble. He's not even thinking, he's just freezing up

LOL @ thumbsucking, or security blanket. Whenever he feels insecure with the handles, he picks up the dribble to make sure he doesn't lose the ball. Ironically, picking up the dribble often results in a turnover because he has to force a pass that isn't there.

Exactly. This drives me insane, because even if you're just 21, coaches have been telling you for 10 years that picking up the dribble only makes things worse. In Reed's case, his parents were players, so they've probably been telling him this since he was 5.

This is why I haven't been pushing him to "start"... let the kid develop. He'll minimize the mistakes the more experience he gets.

Did they amputate his left hand? He absolutely refused to dribble left last night.

I"ve seen Reed pass to Okogie; I've never seen Okogie pass to Reed.

He can finish with his left though.

He always brings it up with his left hand but seems more comfortable with his right in traffic. It's interesting, as if he's using that time to work on his left, lol.

Exactly right. The “offense” is predicated on beating your man on iso and that is NOT Reed’s game. Reed works better with Adams in the game who’s willing to set the screen which frees him from the defender.

Gambler's passing has really impressed me, when he's feeding the post, quickly rotating the ball or firing a bullet skip pass. He puts the ball in a great spot for the teammate to immediately get into his move.

His ball handling could still use some work, but it's improved too.

He's won me over as our future PG for sure... His growth to this point in the year already exceeds where I thought he would be at the end of the season.

Often? I don’t know where this generalization comes from because I feel like Reed has one of the lower turn over rates especially when compared to ppl like Amen, Durant and Sengun and even JSJ
