He is a very good finisher, but that is it, the team defers to him far too much and he isn't the 1v1 player he used to be, and he is terrible under pressure.

What I hope the org doesn't do is lean into this mistake and try to get rid of other young players....to chase a title with a 37 year old as the main guy.

IMHO, we should be leaning heavily away from KD, and have him on the 3pt line, while Sengun and Amen run the PnR at the top and get it to KD at the end of the play so he can catch and shoot, he isn't a good guy with the ball in his hand anymore - he turns it over far too much, easy to beat the Rox right now just double KD on the ball.

IMHO, if you switched KD and Dillon Brooks we would be a LOT LOT better right now......am not saying it was a bad trade, but we need to move away from KD and move more towards Alpi, Reed and Amen.

I really pray we don't compound this with trying to get someone like Giannis and going all in now - we need to BUILD a star as we don't have a Go-To player at all, none.

And if we give up too many assets to try to get one, especially developing players, we will never get there.

Ime is also the wrong coach for this team, he is consistently out coached on the floor, and his adjustments of playing others instead of making changes is rudimentary at best.

When will we double team a player that is hot? What about attacking a poor defender like Harden and trying to get him in foul trouble?

We just have zero plan, and that is 100% on Ime.

Blaming KD bcz we have a shitty coach who has no idea how to draw plays is hilarious. We had issues with our offense long before KD showed up. The issue IS THE DAMM COACH! Fire Ime and bring in a guard!

That was SUPPOSED TO BE KDs job. Why are yall expecting a 37 year old to carry this? It’s all Ime and not being able to write offensive plays.

Yes, but he is using KD all wrong, he is using him as the initiator and he is poor at that, needs to be the receiver of the pass for a catch and shoot, watch PHX last year, he was not involved in the primary action a lot but was where the ball ended upfor the shot, we don't do that.

a KD-led offense without a PG is a recipe for disaster

it was one of the main reasons the Suns underachieved

from an article right before 2024 playoffs

Looking at the numbers, the Phoenix Suns are undoubtedly the NBA’s worst fourth-quarter team this season. In fact, they’re one of the worst fourth-quarter teams in NBA history.

It’s not a label anyone expected for a team with a Big 3 of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal — three clutch performers known for hitting big-time shots.

This has been a glaring issue since the first month of the season, but now, 77 games in, the Suns’ lowly rank in pretty much every fourth-quarter stat still comes as a shock

    • 30th in point differential (-3.0)
    • 30th in scoring (24.9 PPG)
    • 27th in field-goal percentage (44.7%)
    • 24th in 3-point percentage (33.4%)
    • 29th in rebounds (9.9 RPG)
    • 25th in assists (5.4 APG)
    • 28th in turnovers (3.9 TOs)
    • 28th in steals (1.5 SPG)
    • 30th in offensive rating (103.9)
    • 26th in defensive rating (118.0)
    • 30th in Net Rating (-14.1)
Not to bombard poor Suns fans with a barrage of depressing statistics, but we need to be thorough in order to properly convey how bad the numbers say they are.

    This.

He's always been at his best when he has a big-time guard feeding him and getting him easier looks. OKC, GSW, and then Brooklyn. That's why it never worked in Phoenix. He needs to play with a proper distributor who can slant the defense.

This is the truth although KD has denied it.

Not to mention KD doesn't play defense - and that has caused our team to stink at D.

Just to clarify, I am not saying we don't do the trade - we should NOT try to play him as a LEAD DOG - he isn't anymore and we shouldn't lean into him....we should have him be PART of a team oriented approach, not the lead dog.....let others lead...and let KD be the finisher.

    Our defense becomes weaker.

We can't play tough basketball any more. This team has too many soft players.

I'm probably one of the very few people on this forum who disliked this trade from the very beginning.

Durant is trash, now people start seeing how overrated this fool is. He's a good spot up shooter, once you give him the ball, nothing good will happen. He can't dribble, can't pass,. technically he's just super overrated. Without curry, this trash would be worse than harden.

Yep, we're trying the same experiment the Suns did and finding the same result.

Either buckle up and play Reed at PG with Holiday being his back up (or vice versa IDGAF) or make a move for a PG.

This ain't working. KD aint' the issue, it's having the entire offense run through him that's the issue.

I didn't mind getting rid of Jalen Green but losing brooks while tari is constantly out, DFS not playing and FVV not available is hurting us. This team would look alot diff with FVV at point Amen at the 2/3 Kd at the 4 Alpi at the 5 and another wing who can actually make defensive stops and help with the high pace we had last season. Jabari should be off the bench like we had last season. The roster is a disaster with everyone injured!

i dont know if KD is the real problem or the coach, but it is almost 30 games in, and we are just a mediocre team without a pg, that is more and more clear with each game now

he can be with different personnel. Right now we rely on him too much. He isn’t a dominant dribble drive to paint guy so he’s limited in this manner but we’re using him like a 2 guard that can. We need a guard badly. Whether a 1 or 2 that can handle, drive, shoot to relieve Durant and Sengun and take the pressure off. Amen aint it.
