I guess I am in the minority but this was a pretty important move. The Astros needed at least two quality starting pitchers going into 2026. The Astros still need a #2 starter but they got that #3/4 guy with upside, under control, and low cost.

I think it's a move that isn't flashy, but we'll look back in a few years and love it.

A 2nd TJS is much rarer than a single one.

He had his in 2023 so he has much less risk than most starting pitchers

I think this is a great move.

I am quite confident that at least 2 of Burrows, Javier, Arrighetti, McCullers, Weiss, Blubaugh, or Ullola will ascend to playoff starter caliber.

If Brown + at least 4 of those 7 stay healthy, I am very confident this staff finishes in the top 10-12 of all teams.

All they need now is a run producing lefty bat and a back up catcher.

But I also think they bring back J.V. as long as the money is there after those 2 spots are filled.

Because of that, I think trading from this depth can still happen with Arrighetti the guy I would bet on.

He already had TJS in 2023. Can Mike Burrows stay healthy.

    It is a risky trade.

That's true for any pitcher. Who knows how many TJS surgeries Brito might have between now and whenever he makes it to the majors. That's the reality for any pitcher in the modern era - even more so if you pitch for the Astros.

All trades are risky. So are trades not made. At best you simply minimize them. But you never eliminate them.

I don’t see a lot of hate on this trade, at least not on CF.

Based on history our Prospects traded have been mid tier to terrible.

Brett Phillips, Josh Hader, Adrian Houser

Brett Phillips supposed to be a Star CF Mike Trout type, but became a bust.

Josh Hader and Adrian Houser lived up to expectations as Major Leaguers.

Seth Beer, J.B. Bukauskas, Corbin Martin, Joshua Rojas (Astros side) for Zack Greinke

Seth Beer is gone I believe
    JB is gone I believe
Corbin Martin in the league I think
    Joshua Rojas solid career

Prospects are the future of baseball. That’s why everyone wants those with the best tools.

But regarding prospects, it’s a numbers game. When your future hinges on prospects and prospects fail at an overwhelmingly high rate, (75% of pitching prospects fail and 66% of hitting prospects fail), it’s a big gamble especially for a veteran team that has a window of opportunity that keeps getting smaller.

For a team like the Astros, they did very good in this trade, getting a young ML pitcher, with lots of upside, and who they feel they can turn into a legit #2.

Melton and Brito have high upside; but so too does Burrow. Sure if Brito hits his potential, he is going to be special; but that might still be 2 years away and by that time any chance of the Astros being competitive might be a puff of smoke.

I think a large majority like the deal, it just wasn’t what they expected for two of our top 4 prospects

Everyone needs to realize that even if we all have some prospects we personally think will be good, baseball in general doesn’t value our farm in the top half of the league, probably not in the top 2-3. Our #2 and 4 ain’t bringing back what most teams 2 and 4 would

Ed Wade I think traded Ben Zobrist, Hunter Pence - Clutch Postseason hitters

    Jeff Luhnow mistakes
JD Martinez released JD was saying he fixed his swing

Brett Phillips, Josh Hader, Adrian House traded for Carlos Gomez, Mike Fiers

Worst trade in Astros History Carlos Gomez added on a Home Run against the Yankees in playoffs.
Mike Fiers got bitter not being a Starter and became a snitch.

Teoscar Hernandez traded for Aaron Sanchez
